Look at Peta. they recently sent a letter to a group of terrorists who threw a grenade in to a zoo. peta was more worried about the safety of the animals than they were of the people being killed.

The definition of ';save america'; is differant.. Democrats believe that we are not doing enough to rid our dependance on oil and want to find alternative ways for fuel.. Especially renewable sources of energy.. We'd like to put more money into developing these alternative energies.. I personally have no real opposition to drilling in ANWAR, just think it would create a setback and increase pollution in the long run...





And I don't think Dems are typically against Nuclear power plants.. I think Obama is for doing such a thing.. And he get's a whole lot of support..
Apparently its not just Democrats. The republicans controlled congress and the white house for six years and didn't authorize drilling in the arctic refuge. I think its just one of those issues the republicans don't want resolved so they can use it in campaigns forever - like abortion.

It could hurt the enviornment, but it would make for some jobs!, maybe clean refineries!
As I read this question, it has nothing to do with saving the environment but rather whether we will buy, burn and be dependent on Mid East oil or use our own and tell the Middle East where to go.-------Now the answer------Neither party wants to let anything good happen on the other guy's watch!!! It is all about power and ';chest beating'; and of course that ugly thing about political payoffs. We need to kick 90% of the elected officials out of Washington and impose very tight and strict term limits. This way we could break the Staus Quo and get some real work done. Our Congress, Republican and Democrat alike, is very corrupt. Yes we have plenty of potential oil, oil shale, wind and sun and nuclear power to do us quite well if Congress would let it happen. using US produced oil produces no more polution than Arab oil. Actually, it creates less since we do not have to burn more of the stuff to ship it across the Oceans!
I know.... Sad huh?





Year after year of saying no to cheap and efficient energy.

Ps. Hope they build the BIGGEST UGLIEST NOISIEST wind mill directly in front of the Cape Cod Kennedy compound!
Becasue their core constituants, the environmental lobbies, nature people, etc. would have a hissy fit.

but other than that, no, never, just the republicans.
Don't ask me---ask the folks who live in Alaska and California---who don't want that crap in their backyards....
The lack of refineries is a product of deregulation passed under Reagan in the 80's.





And I'm one liberal who generally supports nuclear power -- I just don't want to see it propped up by taxpayer-funded corporate welfare, as it is right now.





As for oil -- the notion that we can drill our way to independence is absolutely 100% false. We use about 20 million barrels/day, and the total of all U.S. oil production is five million barrels/day. Even if we eliminated every single clear air/water protection, it would be completely impossible to meet our needs with domestic oil.





The only path to energy independence lies in getting off of oil. Any other course is simply rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic.
Sounds more like poisoning America to me.





Why do neo-cons not want to seek alternative, renewable sources of energy?





Why are neo-cons so stuck in the box they were raised in? Thinking outside of the box is what leads to innovative breakthroughs.
well....i'm no democrat...i'm independant..





but.... fact is we have less than 3 percent of proven oil reserves on this planet...so no matter how many holes we poke in the ground it isn't going to help us...





as for nuclear power...seems logical that we should have more. Clean, cheap...plentiful.
Democrats will save America starting in January. In the meantime, let's continue killing soldiers for weapons of mass destruction that don't exist. And where is Osama? Any updates?
