Since the Dem's will not let us drill for oil, will they offer us free electric cars?

It is seems to me that the hold question of looking in our own back yard for oil is a not only a positive move, but it will show the arabs we are serious.Since the Dem's will not let us drill for oil, will they offer us free electric cars?
As a Republican you should use your personal fiscal responsibility to afford one, after all, your party stance is against free hand outs.Since the Dem's will not let us drill for oil, will they offer us free electric cars?
Well, you will have to ask the companies who had those electric cars on the market and then squashed them literally. The technology does exist, but has been sat on by the Big Three.
go for this

btw it is a not the dems but an existing federal law.

it was made to protect the evironment.
I thought conservatives were against government handouts?
of course not! that would cost them their own money and, that would be helping people.... dem's don't like either one of those.
Can you prove that it is all the Dem's fault?

Are they the only party that has voted against it?

Come on now you can do better than that.

Thanks for the points.
Hey Corky oil companies have lots of leases they can use to get oil right now. So why not question their motivation and quit whining?
Lol! It will show the Arabs that we are stupid and desperate. The way to show the arabs we are serious is by getting a line of affordable cars out as quickly as possible that get extraordinary gas mileage or don't use gas at all. It's time to get serious! With gas prices like these that aren't even based on supply and demand problems, people are ready to bite that bullet.
Since the GOP will not end the war will they build more cemetaries?
It's not a ban on drilling.

It's a moratorium on new leases for drilling. No one has banned the drilling on already-leased areas. That means oil companies would actually have to use the land they've already been given.

They're not!
Funny -- some folks of the ';personal responsibility'; party seem to always have their hands extended for ';Tax rebates';; ';Stimulus checks'; and now, ';free cars';...

Please -- there is no guaranteed right to drive and all of us need to actually bear the cost of something he have put off for far to long...
there are over 40 million acres of leased land for oil drilling that NO drilling is being done on. Why is that??? oh, but you would rather blame Democrats than look for a solution, wouldn't you????
this is just politics as usual for the liberal democrats.. regardless of how much something makes sense, they will go the opposite direction.. they want to keep us angry at oil prices and the economy so that they can get themselves in power. and besides, we can't allow the domestic oil companies to get any richer can we? that goes against every talking point liberals have.. the eviiiiiiiiiiilllllll big oil... it's ridiculous.. we should've been exploring and drilling decades ago.. it's what we get for pandering to the minority on this issue because of environmental concerns..

HERB-actually there are TWO prohibitions on offshore drilling, one imposed by Congress in 1982 and another by executive order signed by Bush's father in 1990 and was extended by Clinton in 2000..

This moratorium has resulted in making a significant portion of estimated future natural gas and oil supplies unavailable for development. In the United States, estimated undiscovered conventionally recoverable resources in the Federal Offshore area total 75 billion barrels of oil (BBO) and 362 trillion cubic feet (Tcf) of gas, of which an estimated 21 percent of the oil and 17 percent of the gas are in the moratorium area. As of 2000, undiscovered conventionally recoverable resources in the Gulf of Mexico were estimated at 193 Tcf of gas and 37 BBO, with the moratorium area in the Gulf containing about 4 percent of the gas and 7 percent of the oil. Along both the East and West coasts, all estimated undiscovered conventionally recoverable resources (47 Tcf of gas and 13 BBO) are in the moratorium area. In the North Aleutian Basin in Alaska, about 6 percent of the estimated 123 Tcf of gas resources are in the moratorium area and about 1 percent of the estimated 25 BB of oil. so, i don't care what anyone says.. the immediate impact will not be seen, yes.. BUT, the LONGTERM immediate impact will be hugely significant.. and with fossil fuels, the only cost-effective energy source we have, we have to look at it in terms of decades now.. and allowing companies to drill, allowing them to explore, allowing them to build refineries and oil platforms where they already have leases (in places that aren't expected to yeild much btw).. will help us end our dependance on foreign oil. which is the primary reason we are in the situation we're in. period.

the reason oil companies are not drilling on the current leased areas is because they are not high yield areas, they can't build new refineries for those areas, and libs wanna hit their pockets with taxes so why would they want to spend an exhorbant amount of money on a limited area to get minimal yield while the govt digs in the pockets of their shareholders?? people, you need to wake up.
Now that's an EXCELLENT idea!!! Now you're talking. A Manhattan project to get EVERYONE an electric car.
The technology has been there for YEARS.

The Democrats have always been pushing for it,

and the Republicans vote it down.

I saw on the news yesterday: Several cars that

run on hydrogen, and a guy who made HIS OWN

solar powered car.If HE can do it...

Read the news. They have already found huge oil

supplies South of the US,but:

The key is to get OFF of oil dependency.

Thanks to our elected officials (Republicans)

the Japanese got there first, and look how well

their cars sell! That could have been us!

Thanks to Nixon,China almost owns America.

Unknown to you,Chinese banks are buying up

property on the Coasts. There's a reason for that.
The ';Dems'; have awarded 10,000 leases to millions of acres of public lands that oil companies won't drill in now. Why? because conzombies are soooooo easy to fool with anwr and offshore crap.
in the already leased parts of the Florida coast....it has been Charlie Crist,Republican, blocking the actual drilling

of course, just this week he has changed his mind because he is trying to get his buddy McCain elected. Why the need for more contracts if many are already in place?
Electricity is not FREE!

I just paid $27,000 for solar panels so I KNOW what I'm talking about.

I thought about converting my Studebaker to electric, but changed my mind. I think I'll convert it to compressed air. I'll get two120 gallon de-certified propane tanks, put 3 solar panels over them, a 12 volt compressor capable of bringing the tanks up to 300 lbs and use it for short hops to work and shopping.

Even if Hussein Obama offered me an electric car, I would refuse to accept it. I will not be an accessory after the fact to a crime. (Stealing from others to give me an electric car).
I don't know if you are aware of this, but do you know who put the ban on offshore drilling to begin with?

George Herbert Walker Bush.

Strongly supported by Jeb Bush.
Nope, sorry. But even electricity has to be 'created' somewhere and liberals don't want us to use oil or coal to fuel power plants and gawd forbid we use nuclear power. So, bottom line, even electric cars are on their hit list...at least if they're informed, which is a pretty resounding 'if. No, they want us to use bicycles. We can't even use horses because of the methane created.

And the thing is, this is all the result of their extremely flawed and erroneous religion of global warming...or climate change...or what ever name they're calling their god today.

It really is incredible. Scary, too, since they have absolutely no idea where they're heading or why.
The majority of car manufactures have killed that idea. Blame them, not the Dems. The tech for electric cars is now affordable but GM and others just don't want to do it.
Good one Ghost of Tom Joad!

Anyways, you know what, let's drill. And then you can all see that it wont make any difference and we can say, see? Told you so.

More oil is not going to equal more gas. The oil companies could be making more gas already, but they are not letting it get through the refineries so they can keep the prices high and make lots of money. Exxon actually purchased refineries simply to shut them down.
I think the dems are really going to start hurting because of this issue.
