Is it true? We would have to pay Big Oil to drill AND for any oil found in Alaska?

you betcha ! It's called free enterprise; supply and demand.

That's all the oil companies have to do, is CUT BACK when the demand gets high, and presto, they can justify socking it ti to consumer, and charge what ever they want to increase the dividends to their stock holders.

It's called ReaGUNomics. Is it true? We would have to pay Big Oil to drill AND for any oil found in Alaska?
No. If we drill within the United States it is our oil, we own it, so the only people we would pay would be the company that we hire to drill and refine it for us. To avoid that the government could send in their own crews to do the work and then it would be a government controlled operation vs a civilian one. If we hired BIg Oil to do it then yes we would pay them.Is it true? We would have to pay Big Oil to drill AND for any oil found in Alaska?
Yes, it is true we pay corporations for goods and services.
It's true that where Big Oil is concerned, we have to bend over and take what they give us.. We have to smile too, otherwise they'll just screw us more.
No. Those are Democrat Lies.

They will not Allow us to drill in Anwr. Because it would bring the price of oil %26amp; gas down too much.

The Environmentalists give the Democrat Party millions of dollars every election, for keeping the price of oil %26amp; gas high.

  • Where in australia do we drill for oil!!?

I have a science assignment due on tuesday and i need to know where in australia we drill for oil, there are NO good sites that tell me, please someone helpWhere in australia do we drill for oil!!?
Where in Australia does drilling for oil and gas take place? offshore or onshore? in what provinces?

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?鈥?/a>Where in australia do we drill for oil!!?
In wikipedia type ';oilfields of australia';. Its all there.

Why isn't it profitable to drill for oil in Texas? Seems like with oil around $60 a barrel and dependence on .

the mid-east opec that they'd be sinking bits all over the USA. And why don't we just be more friendly to Mexico in exchange for cheap oil?Why isn't it profitable to drill for oil in Texas? Seems like with oil around $60 a barrel and dependence on .
First, Mexican government owns the oil company Pemex, and the Mexican Constitution prohibits foreign investment in oil. Second, with Texas need to get a permit first off to explore offshore for oil. Find oil then you gotta resubmit a permit and documentation that there is oil, and gotta go thru environmental assessment at the local, state, federal level to be able to drill for oil. Finally, it costs lots of money to build the Equipment to extract the oil, and the oil company found a oil reserve would have to spend a while to make sure its worth the investment for offshore oil drilling before they put the equipment to extract it out there. Finally. drilling for oil in Texas would be profitable if there wasn't environmental, and local red-tape. Dint worry Shell is learning the fine art of making oil out of tar sands in Montana to Alberta those deposits if extracted efficiently will provide oil for a long time. The other sources to make fuel like Straw grass would be a good idea because straw grass is the only source of ethanol that is actually a energy gainer. Corn based ethanol is a energy drainer because the time it tales to grow the crops., the fertilizers to protect and grow the corn, and the having to use heavy machinery to grab and extract the ethanol cello use from the corn. Personally not worried about oil much because other sources of extraction of oil will replace overtime oil from unfriendly suppliers.

Will oklahoma cave in since they drilled so much oil?

In some areas of the US, there has been subsidence due to extraction of oil - Long Beach, CA is one of these areas. However, I could find no report that any area in Oklahoma has had this probem due to oil extraction.

Why don't more Republicans, drill for oil in their own yard, or just stick a straw in the ground and Suck ???

Here on the liberal Left Coast we havw oil seeping out of the ground. What's you guys problem. Drill your onw oil.Why don't more Republicans, drill for oil in their own yard, or just stick a straw in the ground and Suck ???
We will drill in our own yards when you stop supporting illegal immigration. You want me to pay 4-5 dollars a gallon next summer, then help us save money elsewhere.

If not, you can look forward to seeing refineries in your back yard. Why don't more Republicans, drill for oil in their own yard, or just stick a straw in the ground and Suck ???
It's the Liberals fault that we don't drill (despite the ban on offshore drilling signed by George H W Bush, backed by Jeb Bush)

It's the Conservatives fault that oil companies don't want to drill on the land that they already have.

How about we all take responsibility for the SUV's, NASCAR, and whatever that uses up so much energy and we power that energy with a finite source.
If I had oil in the ground and had the means to get it out I would. However, I don't. So I'm doing the smart thing and driving a small car that's good on gas. In the meantime we should be drilling off shore and anywhere else we can until we can find another source of energy. A source that is renewable and practical. Of course the democraps would have us continue to drive big vehicles that drain oil out of our planet at an alarming rate.
the sucking part is the issue. from what your telling us, liberals apparently have been doing that for years and conservatives never have been associated with it. again the answer to your question to avoid the liberal trolls is we dont because we need the liberals to set the example(sic) for the latter part of your question.
Exactly!!!! I do the same thing in the Persian Gulf (since I live on a small island near Dubai). Every morning I just drill in my own backyard and give some to OPEC in exchange for some extra cash.;-p But they pay me in Euros!lol
You nimrod, it's the dems that is fighting the drilling in our own country. Evidently you do not read enough. Even Obama is against doing it which other nimrods like you are supporting.
The republicans already suck, it hasn't done any good.
why do you refuse to tell the truth??? you must be a dem....

If you had oil seeping out of the ground you would be rich! mmmm you are still here......

We will drill in our backyards when Ted Kennedy allows a wind farm in Nantucket Sound.
Give me like 200,000 dollars to put up a derrick and I will drill
Well I dunno about most Americans, but this question sure sucks. Dumb...

Why hasn't Bush drilled in Alaska for oil?

He had a republican congress and senate for many years of his presidency and with high gas prices nobody in the US would have really cared about the environmental consequences. Well nobody that doesn't wear burkenstocks. Why hasn't Bush drilled in Alaska for oil?
Liberals environmentalist would not allow it %26amp; still wont. Why hasn't Bush drilled in Alaska for oil?
Why don't you drill oil in Alaska yourself?
because he is too busy coming up with ways to help corporate america by bailing out banks and trying to figure out ways to SCREW the average person!!!
I like brendas answer. Yea, we buy GWB's oil in Texas.

Ok Brenda time to wake up!
The environmentalist won't allow him to plus, the libs excise %26amp; windfall profit taxes have made it unprofitable to do so. Oil companies can make just as much or, more profit importing.

    http://www.taxfoundation.org/news/show/1鈥?/a>
Because of the power of the environmentalist.
None of the politicians in DC have the backbone to stand up against the wacko enviromentals. It doesn't matter if they have an R or a D behind their name. We wont drill off the coast of Florida in the Gulf of Mexico because of the same reasons even though Cuba and China are planning on doing just that.

Makes you sick doesn't it. We have no real leaders in Washington DC
we have been drilling for oil in alaska for years. anyone remmember exxon valdeez? you know the boat that crashed
the democrats held enough seats in the senate to create gridlock on such issues.
because he wants people to buy

his own oil in texas at a high price
the tree huggers wont let them
Because his oil buddies in Texas are getting $110 per barrel, and he doesn't want to ruin a good thing for his buddies.

Did you believe the Democrat congressman whom today claimed oil companies were refusing to drill on the land?

they had leased, in order to keep the price of gasoline high?

Is there any end to the stupidity that comes out of these politicians mouths?Did you believe the Democrat congressman whom today claimed oil companies were refusing to drill on the land?
He must figure the only time an oil company would want to produce more oil is when prices are low

    there's democrat logic for you

god are these people ever stupid

no wonder things are so screwed up

you have to have the dumbest people in the country running thingsDid you believe the Democrat congressman whom today claimed oil companies were refusing to drill on the land?
This is true. The oil companies are leasing thousands of acres of land as well as thousands of acres on the continental shelf. They choose not to drill at this time. Why they aren't drilling is unknown to the Congressman, however. Most likely, the costs of finding, drilling, and extracting any oil that MIGHT be there are prohibitive. We also don't know the terms of the leases. Perhaps the lease terms are unfavorable, and the oil companies are awaiting some type of leverage to renegotiate the leases, or for the leases to expire.
If the Democratic Congress knew what they were doing, they would simply hire inspectors to audit records of the oil companies to show what the research on the oil properties has proven, and then audit the refineries to make sure they're running at capacity, and not being restricted as part of a price-fixing scheme. Funny how they keep us in the dark, though, with this ';he said, she said'; bull$#!t.
Obviously they don't know beans about the oil business. A lease is not a guarantee oil will be found. Even if it is, the conservationists file lawsuits, and the oil company has to file environmentals with the government (which can be denied) and then they have to get another lease in order to pump the oil.
    Yes.

I have a brother in law in the oil business and he tells me they quit pumping in the Gulf of Mexico and go get the foreign oil to make higher profit.

It isn't that there isn't oil it's that they want higher profit and if where they have to drill will cost more than going to Africa to get the oil then that is what they do.

Let us remember OIL is a NONRENEWABLE resource and will at some point become extinct. So, let find alternatives and stop using so much. Plan your driving, walk, take public transportation, bicycle, use electric (of course unless it is solar charged it isn't free).

You really think the oil companies have your best interest in mind? Think again.
    No. It is a diversion.

Democrat Voters will believe Anything----- as long as you throw in a Welfare Check.

(Those leases are costing Oil Companies Millions %26amp; Millions of Dollars each year. They can't drill them all at once. Idiots don't know a thing about it.)
    That happens to be true...

We have open reserves that the Republicans... errr... I mean, oil companies... don't want to drill in, because it's their plan to make sure they attain all of the potential oil for the ';futures market';.
Not really, since the same congressman probably fought drilling the same land tooth and nail until off-shore drilling was put on the table.
I wonder sometimes if there is any end to the stupidity that I read here on a daily basis coming from the uninformed that love to twist bits of information into statements that are not true or are out of context.
I wouldn't anymore surprised that he was telling the truth about it than if he was lying about it. They're all lying about it.
Sounds like something a conspiracy theroist came up with.
This is coming from the same people who who have the power to approve drilling off shore but will not.
    unfortunately it is true.
    Repubes are repugnant.
We have proof that there is life on Mars. I can't believe our Congress is home grown.
    I believe it.
shows the democrats for the liars they are.
no end in sight, they continue to lie for over 30 years !

I would rather you plant your seed in the belly of a whore than to spill them on the ground. (Gen 38:7 Gen 38:8 Gen 38:9)If my girlfriend goes off sex am I right to ';drill for oil'; elsewhere.?
Please don't think me prudish, but that does rather sound like Weapons grade betrayal to me. By the way, the same publication also forbids adultery. Preserve your girlfriends faith in you, not to mention the continued health of your love furniture. Even the Whore has a dignity worth preserving. don't line the pockets of her pimp.

Why not just work out why your girlfriend has taken to abstention? If my girlfriend goes off sex am I right to ';drill for oil'; elsewhere.?
I don't see how drilling for oil will satisfy your sexual needs, though it could make you rich if you were to strike say a large oil field. Why did you gf go off sex? Maybe you should talk to her about what you are doing wrong, or not doing.
Your not a very nice Boy friend if you think like that , and you wrote quotes Why to make yourself feel better about cheating?

Why don鈥檛 you talk to your girlfriend and found out what is troubling her instead of thinking with your Dick
wow. you must be really bad in bed if you made her go off sex. Judging by how you think I wouldnt want to have sex with you either. Your a disease waiting to happen.

    You really disgust me
maybe shes just gone off you?

how about you split with her, so you go plant seeds in the bellys of whores (gaining STDs while youre at it) and she can find someone who actually turns her on!

    winners all round.
Pitty help her if she can't do 'it' for a while for some medical reason. You have no loyalty to your woman. Just hope your 'bits' keep performing - or maybe she will go and 'spread her oil' elsewhere?
Let me see if I've got this right. I've got a dude using bible quotes to justify messing around on his woman?

    Ok.

Not without abandoning the current drill site to allow someone else to try their own luck first.
No. You should try to find out why your girlfriend has gone off sex and help her to want it again.

I'm sure you wouldn't be happy if your girlfriend was asking the same question.
I wouldn't bother - if your girlfriend has gone off your lame bedroom technique, another girl probably will too.

    Here's a tip for you - it's not a race!!!
If thats how you feel maybe you should split up and find a more willing partner, save a lot of heartbreak in the long run.
If u loved and respected your girlfriend,u wouldnt even consider it,no matter wot genesis says.if i were u,i'd try n find out why she's went off sex
Thanks for the heads up, I never knew that there was Biblical approval for playing away from home.

China is spending $10 BIL to drill for oil with Brazil off of Brazil's coast. Will Obama bankrupt the US?

Will we end up buying products that China makes from the oil that comes from the wells in Brazil's ocean while we refuse to drill off of America's coasts?China is spending $10 BIL to drill for oil with Brazil off of Brazil's coast. Will Obama bankrupt the US?
BIG YAWN. The US doesn't have the capacity to meet its current oil demands by drilling. We have only a small fraction of the world's oil reserves yet we use over a quarter of the world's production.

BTW, if drilling was the answer why didn't Bush drill all over the place when he and the GOP were in complete control? Its probably because the oil companies have no interest in making the huge investments that would be necessary.

    Next.

Why won't Congress let us drill for oil and build more nuclear plants? I'm fed up with paying $4.00 for gas.

10 years ago Congress passed a bill to drill in ANWR. It would of provided about 1.5-2 million barrels of oil a day. We use about 20 million a day. So, nearly 10% of our oil could be coming from that site alone. That would of reduced gasoline prices. But Clinton gave in to the environmentalists and vetoed the bill.

Nearly all legislation for more nuclear plants and oil refineries has been blocked by the democrats and some wayward republicans. Instead of real action, they drag the oil execs in front of them for a good tongue lashing that accomplishes nothing fruitful. It's all a dog and pony show. They don't care about the price of oil because they are all multimillionaires and it doesn't affect them. Why won't Congress let us drill for oil and build more nuclear plants? I'm fed up with paying $4.00 for gas.
    Liberals.

Liberals have blocked resolutions in Congress that would reduce our dependence on foreign oil.

It has nothing to do with the environment, liberals could care less about the environment. The environment is simply a prop they use to promote their socialist agenda.

The reason is simple: By liberals keeping our demand on foreign oil high, it helps keeps gas prices high. High prices mean an agitated America and more likely Americans will embrace a socialist system to solve problems liberals purposely perpetuate.

Make no mistake, the liberal agenda is to build a socialist welfare state and they will do anything to make sure that happens. Why won't Congress let us drill for oil and build more nuclear plants? I'm fed up with paying $4.00 for gas.
The U.S. is the 3rd largest producer of oil in the world. We pump millions of gallons of oil from the U.S. including millions of gallons from the North Slope field in Alaska (the ANWR park land is only a tiny fraction of Alaska). The problem is not how much we produce, it is how much more than that we consume. And most of our electricity generating plants are coal fired so nuclear plants would mostly replace coal fired plants and would have no effect on oil consumption or prices. And the current oil price problem is a problem with speculation in the commodities market and not with supply at all.
the wells are drilled but we cannot get the oil from the ground due to the enviromentalists. we cannot build the pipelines dut to the enviromentalists. they think that pipelines hurt animals. that is the biggest farce there is. ever seen pictures of the pipline in alaska. the animals rest on it hangout near it and follow it where ever it goes. the populations of the migratory herds has boomed since the pipelines construction. you cannot tell them these things because they only believe what oher enviromentalists tell them. it wouldn't matter if they came to alaska and saw it for themselves they would still believe their own groups other than their own eyes...

when gas makes 10.00 a gallon the enviromentalists might think about it. but will side with themselves and keep the inflation growing from the fuel costs. the refinery here in north pole alaska is predicting 6.50 a gallon before winter hits in september. so 10 dollar gas is not that far off.
There's not enough oil left in America to make a significant difference. It's a dying (and deadly) resource. We need to move to sustainable alternatives quickly. As for nuclear plants, Three Mile Island and Chernobyl come to mind, and all the radioactive waste that nobody wants in their backyard.
$4.00 a gallon is really cheap compared to almost every country in the world.

Here is Australia, we are $1.63 a litre ($6.23 a gallon)

    Quit being greedy.
Environmentalists wont stop complaining they preach about saving the environment yet they eat all the plants that clean up the air
The enviro-nuts are paying key politicians to keep us from doing just that.
Because of the power of the green people.
    Environmentalists

Can we drill for oil yet?

or are we better off to have our economy to collaspe? Can we drill for oil yet?
    No. We haven't suffered enough.

It's still more important to have horny caribou in some God forsaken corner of Alaska, than affordable gasoline in the rest of the country.

The government won't stop price increases, or do anything to increase supply, because they want a windfall profits tax.

This tax won't lower the price we pay, it just let's the government get a piece of the action. They both stand to profit from any price rise.

So, why then would you expect either Big Oil or Government do anything to stop that? Can we drill for oil yet?
The problem isn't that we're running out of oil, we're just running out of the easy oil. The Canadian oil sands contain a 300 year supply of crude at current rates of consumption. We also have these oil bearing sands in the US but the Canadians already have production facilities in place and are currently producing 1.2m barrels a day from sand right now.

If government really wants to do something useful, they should promote immediate increases in this production to 20 million barrels a day (or more).

Private businesses are increasing production but nothing on the scale a loan from the government could accomplish. 8 billion dollars was raised for a new production facility in North Dakota but won't be on line for several years.

I am a strong believer in less government but this current situation is a danger to national security and a partnership between the government and private enterprise could actually solve our energy problem if there was just the will to do it.
it is time to sh*tcan the entire leftist Congress.

I am sick and tired of these scumbags bowing before the altar of the econuts.

California, Florida, Alaska, have known reserves of oil.

Montana, Utah, Colorado North Dakota have a very large known reserve of oil and oil sands, and oil shale. That is 8 times the original amount of oil found in Saudi Arabia. (break even cost of $50-70/bbl

Wyoming, Montana, (and elsewhere) we have large reserves of coal that can be used in CTL processes to place in the oil feedstock chain. (at a break even cost of $40/bbl).

Since the 1970s Congress has done not one friggin' thing to change this issue except demand emission and cafe standards, subsidize a net zero gain energy (Ethanol)..

Our driving population has increased while per person energy consumption and production remained fairly flat.

As much as the nutjobs demand ';green alternatives'; they remain less then cost effective solutions.

We have about 530-550 little Neros fiddling in DC while the country burns down economically as the result of eco-pandering.
Well, it all really depends on the interests of our policymakers. Why don't we use Yellowstone for geothermal, yes plenty of non-polluting, reliable, renewable energy? Why don't we use the coal from out in the West, such as Utah or Nevada? Where sulfur content is much lower?(LESS acid rain)

Eventually, we will be pushed to get the oil from our own land, not to mention from our neighbors, Mexico and Canada, the question is how much pressure from rising costs for fossil fuels we will have to go through before people finally buckle down and do it.
we may have too. The thing is though, u have to remember it takes time for this type of thing and it would be years before we are able to see any kind of benefit from this. I agree, its a must but we have our backs up against it. Oil is not as plentiful as before and it will become less so as years go on. Drilling is a must but senseable drilling and eco friendly. It can be done.

Another oil processing plant would be good also.

I am one of the few who see the benefit of high oil prices.

I lived through the 1970s oil crisis and we knew then to start going to smaller cars and alternative fuels. The ball started to roll but not quick enough. Now, we are suffering the consiquences of our thrist for oil. This will spur the country and the world to start looking for other forms of energy. This is a good thing and will make people more environment conscious. This country is at an important point right now to a better future in my belief.
You really think it would matter? Consumption is down, refineries are operating at 85% and the prices are still rising. It is not supply and demand, only supply. We can't control that.

Edit: To Raina. Not all oil companies purchase overseas oil, but they charge the same as companies that do. YOU do the math.
No the Democrat say it would not help that much so they disapprove the Bill again.,go figure it better to buy from someone else.

grump56 is it better to have your own or have to buy it from someone else ,do the math Sir
As long as the Dems are controlling Congress and the House,no drilling will be allowed. Then they can still use the oil situation for their own gain, just like they have been.Plays right into OPECs hands. And WE will be the ones to suffer, not the politicians.
Lets see we had the last 8 years with a republican Texas Oilman President and I guess he forgot huh? And before that we had 8 years with a Clinton who must have forgotten too... Yes it's just those damn Liberals again holding ALL the offices and controlling our economic growth!
yes but the fricking tree hugging leftist environmentalists won't let it, we have not built a new refinery in thirty years because of these quacks which own so many judges and politicians!!

we should turn Alaska upside down and drain it dry!!!
Yes we need more Nuclear Power plants also plus Oil Refineries
Time for the voters to rise up and demand responsible

drilling everywhere possible before gas is $10per gallon!

How would that be good for anyone!!!

    ...CHG...
No. Save the trees, No drilling in Alaska, No nuclear plant, no more refineries. Al Gore for president.
We can drill, just not much at all. I guess that's what we get for forgoing the problem since the 1970s.
We drill in Texas and the Gulf of Mexico all the time.
we can't drill for oil yet cause polar bears just went back on the endangered species list
we can drill but the dems won't allow it!
No. We all must be punished for ';ruining the planet';.
We're saving it until Mid East runs dry.

I hope our wallets don't run dry first.

Oil in Alberta we have drilled we have found and why do we not use it ourselves?

You haven't drilled, you've dug it up as oil sand. You don't use it yourselves because it costs more to process it than it does to import oil from overseas. That may/will change in the future, but please don't think that it's as simple as running a hose from a hole in the ground to your car.

Why do we buy oil from far east when we could drill off shore and bluid refines?

that would make oil as cheap as coalWhy do we buy oil from far east when we could drill off shore and bluid refines?
Good question I have been asking that a long time. Why did we let the EPA shut down the drilling off our coast? I say we shut down the EPA. There is more oil around our parts but the greenie weenies have the laws locked up so we can't drill or refine. Why do we buy oil from far east when we could drill off shore and bluid refines?
We do not have enough domestic oil to support our habit. Also, drilling has a terrible impact on the local environment. The saudi's have basically sold their countries environment out. Should we do the same? I don't think so.

A better question would have been, why do we continue to rely on oil when alternative energy sources are available cheaper, and with less impact on the environment.
Tell it to the congressmen from FL and AK.
There is oil all over the world, but it's most plentiful and easy to pump in the Middle East. There are not many companies here willing to invest the $Millions in capitol equipment needed to pump the volume required to support our appetite for Oil... Even at the current high prices it's still cheaper to import oil from other Countries. There are solutions such as renewable energy sources such as solar %26amp; wind power generation, plant based fules such as Ethanol, etc... but even Ethanol has fixed costs that are very high, (capitol equipment and factory costs), eventually these other fuel options will win out over oil, but it will take time. Until then the best thing we can all do is conserve energy as much as possible to reduce demand.
    Without all the BS...

Because it is Cheaper. No one in thier right mind (and especially someone in business) pays more for a material than they have to. that includes Crude Oil.

Contrary to popler OPINION, its not cheaper off shore, nor could be made a cheap as coal. Sorry but the marketplace rules regardless of what we may think.

    wer
Just wanted to add to the discussion.

I've heard that the crude oil ';quality'; itself is different.

Crude oil from the middle east is ';easier'; to refine into a useful form than other crude oil from other places.

Yes, I also believe we should have made refineries in Alaska and anywhere possible in the US 10 years ago in the name of national security and economical stability.

Btw, the middle east only supplies less than 1/3 of the worlds crude oil.

The US self produces 40% and imports 60% from foreign countries.

Out of the imports, only about 20% comes from the middle east.
Oil under your feet does not mean you can pipe it out easily. It takes a lot of tech. to do so. Will that be more economical than buying from others? Moreover, the terrain and geographical structure in far east is such that makes it easy to get oil from underground.
Where are you planning to drill for oil offshore? We don't have any oil here, except for a tiny bit in Alaska. Unfortunately almost all of the oil is in the middle east. And there is not an unlimited supply of it there.
I'd like to think that we are 'using up THEIR oil first' but that is not the case.

It comes down to money. And environmentalists.

No new refineries have been brought online in this country in over 20 years. The costs, environmental red tape, and the NIMBY factor pretty much kill that idea when it's proposed for an area...

The costs of drilling off shore are tremendous, and the DEEPER water you have to drill in, and the deeper it is under the ocean bed, the MORE expensive it becomes.

In case you were not aware of it, the ';NIMBY'; factor works like this:

We all realize the fact we need a new refinery (or factory, or power plant, or landfill, or whatever).

We STRONGLY SUPPORT that we build one as soon as possible...however Not In My Back Yard...

get the point? Everybody seems to agree that we need new refineries and oil fields, but nobody wants them near where they live!

    NIMBY trumps need.

However, oil will never be as cheap as coal - in an era of declining production and skyrocketing demand, it will never be 'cheap' again.

  • Why would anyone want to drill for more oil?

It wont drop the prices at all. If we do pull out a few million barrels it will take at least 6 years to get any oil production, and a few million barrels will only last a few days....maybe even hours. America has a 20 billion barrel a day addiction right now, its just getting worse. Are you willing to pay 10 cents less now so your kids can suffer when we actually run out?? Lets use all this money for oil drilling and use it to build wind and solar farms that will eventually pay for themselves? Pros and Cons? What do you think? Why would anyone want to drill for more oil?
We should have drilled years ago, but you liberals have made it impossible, so we need to drill now before the gas is 10 bucks a gallon.

    Conserve now,

    Drill now.

Will OBH allow the U.S. to drill for gas and oil And build nuke energy plants?

Or will it be the same o same oWill OBH allow the U.S. to drill for gas and oil And build nuke energy plants?
He is opposed to both those ideas and wants to raise the taxes on gasoline slowly so he can drive the country to $200,000 Hydro Cell autos and $60,000 electric autos with a 50 mile range.

May be something he wants but it is nothing we will support. Will OBH allow the U.S. to drill for gas and oil And build nuke energy plants?
    Probably
He will waste billions of dollars and invoke eminent domain (take peoples property) to build infrastructure which by the way will be his job creation (which this ';job creation'; will only be temporary, but the media will not report that), this infrastructure will be in the form of renewable energy (wind solar, etc...) and the cost for us will out weigh the benefit, and won't produce like nukes. Now this will be done for the super rich investors like the oil CEOs they will have contracts to install and maintain and here is the main reason CHARGE you for this power which you helped pay for. Kinda neat huh. This is why the oil CEOs don't want to drill, kind of like the oil guy on that commercial said, ';we don't have to drill';.

By the, way Nuclar plants are very safe!
You sure know the answer sweetie. Same o same o.

The truth is, its not economically viable to drill for gas at this point in time, he will make a case for nuclear energy.
What's OBH? Do you mean BHO, our new president? Yes, he's going to allow drilling for gas and oil, and he says he's even promoting nuclear energy. If anyone tries to put a nuclear plant in Oklahoma, they'll have to kill me first.
    Same o same o............
    Nope.

He will simply throw more money at alternative energy schemes that have yet to produce a practical large-scale energy source.

Remember the gas prices we had 6 months ago? 10 years prior to that Clinton refused to allow drilling because 'it would take 10 years to see results and alternative energy will have filled the gap by then.'

Where does McCain want to drill oil?????????

    ugh

in Denver Appalachian Basin and alaska over wildlife which will kill them and the enviroment.Where does McCain want to drill oil?????????
Hopefully where the oil is! This is a major problem with the Democratic energy bill. They wrote the bill to exclude the very areas where the Known oil reserves are located. Another political power play. Their intent was to be able to say that we support off shore oil drilling and we passed the bill to prove it. Of course, the little detail ( among others) is they don't support drilling where we know the oil is. What a sham.Where does McCain want to drill oil?????????
I live in Florida, he can drill HERE. Keep the jobs HERE. Put some tax dollars into Florida's school system. Keep oil dollars out of middle eastern hands. Then maybe some day as we get the technology in place we can use the platforms to install wind or solar farms. Lord knows we have lots of both. Lets all try to work together and not point fingers.
maybe on the White House lawn.
    where it can be found
    his grandma's *** hole!!

If the 'No Drill' Demorats had allowed America to drill our own oil in the Wasteland of ANWR 10 years ago,

Would we be transferring our wealth to the Mid East like we are today? If the 'No Drill' Demorats had allowed America to drill our own oil in the Wasteland of ANWR 10 years ago,
No, we wouldn't %26amp; that's part of what makes it so frustrating. If Congress would let us drill for our own oil, build some more nuke plants and the rest of us would downsize our vehicles, we could probably tell the ME to go f**k itself. If the 'No Drill' Demorats had allowed America to drill our own oil in the Wasteland of ANWR 10 years ago,
Yes idiot. You watch too much Fox News. Becuase ANWR dosen't matter. Let me educate you. The world uses 87,000,000 barrels of oil a DAY. 10 years of pumping oil out of ANWR will produces 1 week of world oil use. So Republians answer is to destroy the Habitat in Alaska for one week of oil, SMART. Oil men in this country and in the Mid East love these high oil prices. High oil prices have made it economical to explore remote, hard to reach and expensive to pump oil. Bush is an oil man. Do you think oil men hate these high oil prices? New SUVs are at 1/3 to 1/2 price now. Do you think SUV salemen love their low prices?
If these anti-drill people were smart, they would let the drilling occur. They could really let the Reps dig themselves a hole. If drilling is not the answer as they say, America would see it for what it is. A rouse by Reps and ';big Oil'; to scam America. That would solidify their case against the Reps.

This won't happen because they know it can work and they don't want America to see them for what they are.
If we had drilled in ANWAR ten years ago, The holes would be dry, the oil would be in China and we would be the proud owners of a dirty wasteland and the oil companies would claim that it was too expensive for them to clean it up.

Say ';hi'; to Rush for me and tell him I said that he is a cheese-pile.
yes, because we would still be at war (probably), and drilling in ANWR wouldn't satisfy more then a fraction of our energy needs.

Plus, everyone seems to forget this, we don't get that much oil from OPEC, most of our oil is from non-Opec nations.
lol...You know, the off shore drilling ban was put in to place by George HW Bush (41). I love that this gets omitted all the time.

...and if the government had had some foresight 30 years ago during the gas crisis, we might have had an alternative energy source by now.
the wasteland is inside of your head, ANWR is amazing, obviously you have never been there and are just repeating a talking point, as any greater depth would too much for you to understand.
Right now, there is more than five TRILLION dollars worth of oil sitting in the ground, and they still don't want to drill. How stupid is that? Just so we don't disturb a couple of caribu
Yes, we would, because we still wouldn't be able to outdrill our own use on a daily basis.

By the way, your candidate could be considered one of those ';No Drill Demorats'; you mentioned.
If the Republicans weren't in bed with big oil companies, perhaps we would have an alternative source of energy today and we wouldn't need to have questions like this.
    YES

Plus look at all the lost investments, if ANWR oil had been sold for 10 bucks a barrel in the 90's

Thank God Bush had enough insight to drive up the price of OIl

    $200 a Barrel by Christmas
The prices would be lower and we most likely would be in a far better economic position today.
    No Way.
    no

Not nearly as much plus we would have many more jobs.

    fs

So the United States of America drill for oil in America? Why or why not? ?

Because if tomorrow the Saudi Government decides, ';Hey, let's ruin the USA and not sell them oil'; we are done for. The dem congress is reducing our reserve supply. It's stupid to pay top dollar for a product you already own.So the United States of America drill for oil in America? Why or why not? ?
Absolutely. How can we expect other countries to drill when we won't drill on our land? Also, the drilling area is so miniscule in the big picture, it really is worth it to drill. We need to not be so dependant on foreign oil.So the United States of America drill for oil in America? Why or why not? ?
Why? To make us independent of forign oil! Lower gas prices!

And to Oh No! who said they hated the leader of this country at times, you do realize that Bush is all for off shore drilling and its Pelosi that's blocking the vote from going to the Senate floor right?
I just asked a question about this.

    http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?鈥?/a>
Why? Because it makes us more energy independent and brings us revenue and jobs.

Why not? It might kill some caribu or salmon.

I think we need to drill off the coast cause china is doing it... Why should they get to take our oil, I hate the leader of this country at times.
    Yes, but not now.

We should first use oil in other countries as long as we can afford it. Only then should we tap our own reserves.

    US Needs Foreign Oil
because this is where the oil is? well, just drill wherever there is oil

What states/areas in the U.S. are best to drill for oil? Are there any areas in New York State?

As others mentioned, no major oil finds in New York. Natural Gas is another story. In the past, there were minor finds. Now with new technology, the Marcellus Shale formation can be a major find. For a map of the formation, including its extent in NYS, go to: http://geology.com/articles/marcellus-sh鈥?/a>

For oil in the US, the Bakken Shale area in northeastern Montana and northwestern North Dakota is being worked on by Brigham Exploration, EOG Resources, MDU Resources, Northern Oil %26amp; Gas company, Whiting Petroleum and others

The Devonian Black Shale formation is in Eastern Tenn.

The Permian Basin is a major oil area in eastern New Mexico and western Texas (Occidental Petroleum is there). There are also oil wells all over south Texas and northeastern Texas. Years ago when I visited Kilgore, most of the town smelled like a roof being tarred.

The Pinedale Anticline area is in Woming and is being developed by Ultra Petroleum.

There is (or was when I was there years ago) a working oil well on the grounds of the Oklahoma state capitol building.

I also saw oil wells in California.

Southeastern Kansas also has some wells.

Every once in awhile, I received slow mail spam hyping some penny stock that wants to drill in Kentucky. What states/areas in the U.S. are best to drill for oil? Are there any areas in New York State?
NYS? How do you think Wellsville got its name?

The best areas are in the West, though. If the price of crude keeps going up, watch for the oil shales and sands being tapped. It's neither clean nor efficient but we have more petroleum locked up there than they have in the Middle East. What states/areas in the U.S. are best to drill for oil? Are there any areas in New York State?
oil is where you find it, but there are not any oil wells that are significant producers in NY state-some nat. gas, hope this helps...good luck
There were a lot of natural gas wells caped in central NY when I lived there . As for oil ?

  • I say we drill for oil here in america, rather than be dependent on the Middle East. Are you with me?

Yah we need to stop FUNDING TERROR, use our own dang oil! We have more than the MIDDLE EAST COMBINED! .I say we drill for oil here in america, rather than be dependent on the Middle East. Are you with me?
No, because I think that would substitute short-term gain for long-term cost. America has relatively little oil and we will not gain access to that for some time (it takes time to discover oil, drill, collect and process). It will be a drop in the bucket compared to our national usage, so we will still need to rely on the Middle East for the lion's share. In exchange, we will permanently alter the environment, harm endangered species living in the affected regions and spend large sums that could be better spent elsewhere.

I would propose we devote our energies toward increased fuel efficiency and standardizing an alternative fuel source. Our country is innovative given the right incentive and I think we could accomplish this pretty quickly. We just need someone to get the ball rolling.I say we drill for oil here in america, rather than be dependent on the Middle East. Are you with me?
I'll agree with Tatiana. We can drill here, but really, it's not going to decrease our dependence on foreign oil. It will certainly bring some big profits to big oil. May decrease our oil imports by a modest percentage, but as long as we import most of our oil, a modest percentage still puts us at the mercy of the middle east. We need to reduce consumption and develop alternative power sources. Let 'em drill, but keep the focus on research and development of alternative sources.
Multiple sources within the United States could yield massive amounts of oil, which could lead to a significant drop in prices. I believe that the neccesary course of action is this: We must pursue new sources of energy that are clean and cheap. This is possible and viable, but will also take considerable effort and time.

Therefore, in the meantime, we must use all domestic oil options that we have (i.e. offshore, ANWR in Alaska and other options). Once new, clean and cheap fuels are found and perfected, we should wean the country off oil alltogether.

But in the short term, yes you are correct: we can no longer depend on foreign oil; it will cripple the economy
Well, in the long term it's a fine idea. More important, though, is developing other technology that takes us away from oil all together. We need to do this asap.

Off-Shore drilling is not going to help us NOW. It will help us in a few years, and we don't know how much it will really make a difference. We can explore, but we have to keep in mind that the idea is being packaged as an instant fix to the oil crisis - not true!! It's not a really viable option for our current gas prices.
Exactly! The environment is for us here to use! And we must be careful how we use it! All we have done for years is pay our money to the Saudi's and they in turn support terrorism against us! I think about that every mile i drive and every gallon I put in my car! Those idiots see us as the infidel! The sooner we have more of our own oil and work on other means of transportation and expand our technology the better off we will be!
Yep. I used to be an environmentalist, but then went to work in DC and saw first hand that their agenda was anti-capitalist and not environmental at all, although that's what their rank and file thought. A real bunch of arrogant jerks is what I saw of the environmental movement on Capitol Hill.
Its a bit curious why the elder Bush when president put a ban on it, being an oil man . It does not appear elder Bush was much different from his son, whom is trying to finish what his father left undone, like war, getting his hands on Social Security, it makes no sense, but I can guarntee there must be an advantage to him!
no. drilling off the US coast would have very little effect on the world market...to the tune of dropping the price 1-3 dollars a barrel. thats about a nickel a gallon..and we wouldn't even see a drop of that oil until at least 10 years from now.

we don't need more oil...we need 100 mpg cars. somebody get on that
It would be a symbolic gesture at best. We don't have enough oil to alter the global, or U.S., energy market, and it would take years to get our relatively measily reserves into production.

The US has about 2% of the known world oil reserves and we consume over 20% of current world supply.

    http://www.infoplease.com/ipa/A0872964.h鈥?/a>
I say take care of ourselves first. I am tired of the US support other countries before ourselves. I also tired of the stupid environmentalists stop the drilling. Nature is more resilient than we are. If they truly believed in evolution then they would know that all living things could adapt!!!
yea, i agree that we should free ourselves from the OPEC countries power and make ourselves independent. but in the long run, i do believe that we will have more choices for fuels than just gasoline. a variety is what this country needs. but for the current generation, offshore drilling is a must. after we get back on our feet, then the hunt for more fuels must begin.
When will you people get off this!

Every oil rig in America (including ones under construction) is booked through 2013.

Most of our oil doesn't come from the middle east. It comes from Canada, Mexico and Venezula.
    No way-

it makes no sense for us to get oil out of our own backyard when we can buy it for ridiculous prices from totalitarian religious states with no freedoms.

Who cares if it takes 10 years- because it takes a while does not make it wrong.

    Liberals are so idiotic!
yes I am. Drill, conserve, nuclear power, wind, solar and anything else they can think of. I'm for gerbil power if it takes one dime away from the oil cartels.
let the oil company drill the land the already have .then we moved on. and please then bush and MCsame that we need to release some of the oil reserve .this is an emergency.
Yes and its not 10 years, its 2 to 6 years we can still work on alternative sources but for now drill away. And it was Clinton who stopped it from happening before we could have already been using it. Thanks Clinton you a$$hole!
Yes! Just like Mr Pickens says; $700 Billion leaves our country every year for foreign lands. Just that is enough reason to drill OUR own oil.
OH...YEA, LET'S START IN THE MIDWEST. LET'S GET TO THE MIDDLE OF THE HEARTLAND.
Yes,Last time I checked my car doesn't run on wind, sun or Nuclear. So we need something to fill in until they find a way to replace our current auto fuel.
We just need to get off of oil. Once we put that pressure on then we will see less pressure on us.
But of course, we have 3 properties they can start anytime.
Yes, but the environmentalists have too much control over ';Mother Earth';.
    Yes.... Drill here... Drill NOW
    YES!!!!!!!
    Yes I am !!!
    Word..
    Yes !! I !!! Am !!!!
I don't count, why do you ask me?
No, not really. We need to get out of the oil trap and invest in nuclear, solar, wind, geothermal, etc energy resources. Oil is not renewable and it is a major source of pollution. It is the energy resource of the PAST. Drilling won't even bring in any oil for years to come, no effect at the pump....

About How Much Oil is in the Us that we could drill for? how much compared to Saudi Arabia for example?

If you would drill off the Gulf of Mexico, Atlantic and Pacific coasts, Alaska, and the shell in mountains, the United States would produce more oil than the rest of the Middle East cominbed.About How Much Oil is in the Us that we could drill for? how much compared to Saudi Arabia for example?
    Less.

Why can't the demo rats just let us drill for our own oil?

WE are America the most tech advanced country in the world why do they think we can't get our own oil safey. Why can't the demo rats just let us drill for our own oil?
Yes, there are some areas they want them to explore, but only about 1/4 of the leased land has oilon it! Also, studies have shown that drilling is safe, but they still oppose it. They want us to remain dependent on foreign oil even though there are 2 trillion barrels not including offshore and anwr.

Most of the world鈥檚 known unconventional oil resources are located in North America. Some1.7 trillion barrels of oil are contained in the oil sands of Canada (Ref. 9, Pg. 40). An addi-tional 2.0 trillion barrels are contained in oil shale located in Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, Kentucky, Ohio and Indiana (oil shale re-sources discussed in Volume II).

We need to get to our own oil while working on alternative energy. Our whole economy depends on it.Why can't the demo rats just let us drill for our own oil?
Don't give me ';environmental reasons'; :

Yes we need alternative fuels, but we're not even remotely close to being able to buy cars and fill them up with something other than gas. Hydrogen car costs a couple hundred thousand to make!

Over 1000 wells were damaged or destroyed by Katrina and Ruth...

    Not ONE DROP leaked.

the tens of thousands of oil wells in the world...when was the last spill?????

The real reason? The are heavily funded by environmental extremists who are not so much interested in saving the planet, as in destroying this country.

If you dont believe me, perhaps you'll believe Patrick Moore (Yes, the co founder of Greenpeace!)

    http://www.greenspirit.com/key_issues/th鈥?/a>

Take 3 minutes to read the article. Very scary

    By the way:

700 Billion to the Saudi's for their oil

120 Billion for the Iraq war.

    That doesn't bother you?
Well, first of all, they are drilling, the Gulf of Mexico, Texas, Louisiana, just to name a few places.

It won't lower the price of gas, it's all sold on the world market and we do not have enough oil to have a significant impact on world supply.

All it is going to do is enrich the oil companies that drill it and sell it.
This drilling scheme is just another giveaway of federal land to the big oil companies that already have tens of millions of acres of public land under their control.

We won't have lower oil prices and our environment will be further damaged. If there were a plan in place to guarantee us the lower prices, then maybe we could negotiate more drilling but right now the oil companies do whatever they want and we pay whatever the price is.
ITS ALL ABOUT THE MONEY AND WHO IS IN POWER. AS OF NOW THE LIBERAL DEMS,[[ WITH THE HELP OF THE GREENS, GEORGE SOROS, HOLLYWOOD, THE LIBERAL MEDIA ]], THEY HAVE THE PEOPLE RIGHT WHERE THEY WANT THEM, HATING AND BLAMING THE G.O.P. FOR EVERYTHING THAT'S GONE WRONG BE IT THE TRUTH OR NOT. THEY COULD CARE LESS IF THE PEOPLE ARE HURTING. P.S. WHAT ABOUT IRAQ NOW THAT WE ARE WINNING, NOW ITS THE ECONOMY STUPID, IT WORKED FOR THEM BEFORE LOOKS LIKE ITS WORKING FOR THEM AGAIN, AND REMEMBER THINGS STARTED TO GO SOUTH AFTER THE 2006 ELECTION AND THEY GOT CONTROL OF CONGRESS, THIS IS ALL THEIR DOING BY DESIGN.
That would be the wrong direction, in my opinion. This old planet is just so big. With millions of cars and trucks polluting the air, it just makes more sense to me to look for alternative fuels. Popular Mechanics has an article last month about one of our universities already have a hydrogen on demand car in the works. Hydrogen, separated from water, burned in the engine, exhaust, water. This country can do great things when put under pressure.

    For what it's worth.
The Democrats aren't stopping the oil companies from not drilling in the 68 million acres they already have. That's Big Oil's doing right there.

Maybe we should be looking to wean ourselves off of oil, period.
    Exxon Valdez

    Alaskan Oil Pipeline breaks

    Refinery Fire in LA

    Etc.
    If they get in office you will see drilling as they want %26amp; will take it over as GOV%26gt; We the people get drilled again%26gt;
    Only the Shadow knows.

If United States drill their own oil, how many years it's gonna run out, if they use it themself?

10 pts. for right answer. If United States drill their own oil, how many years it's gonna run out, if they use it themself?
we are sitting on the largest oil sands reserve on earth, at $ 40 a barrel it is profitable to extract itIf United States drill their own oil, how many years it's gonna run out, if they use it themself?
80+ years. Apparently there is more oil in Alaska and Northern Canada than Iraq.

    Let the drilling begin!!!!!
Never..plus all the greasy food eatin theres plenty of oil
Probably just a few years, isn't that what the war in Iraq is all about? Or am I reading too much into this war?

HOW Do We Know How Much Oil IF We Don't Drill?

ok, I've learned about shallow drilling to collect core samples, and using magnetometers to detect flowing oil and satellite images to examine surface rocks and terrain and detecting the smell of hydrocarbons using electronic sniffers, but don't you finally have to actually drill to see how much oil there is.

If you don't drill how can you kinow how much oil there is?HOW Do We Know How Much Oil IF We Don't Drill?
There are other technological ways that use sonar or magnetic waves to image underground. Drilling is a part of getting sensor equipment down there.HOW Do We Know How Much Oil IF We Don't Drill?
    You don't really.

You use magnetics and gravity to find a basin to test then do seismic surveys. these still don't tell you much beside the possibility of oil. you can go ahead and prove the oil is there by drilling then extrapolate around the well you drilled using the seismic image to get a volume sorted out.

You don't know it's oil until you hit it.
Drilling exploratory wells is costly, both in terms of dollars in manpower and permits and litigation. Therefore other techniques are exploited in the pursuit of viable oil reserves. Geophysical methods are what I am most familiar with. Essentially the earth is shaken, either by a truck mounted vibrator or a controlled series of explosions set on sticks about 30 inches off the ground. A computer collects the seismic waves through devices called geophones and a geophysicist analyzes the recorded data. Its very interesting how the subsurface is made viewable, not unlike an ultrasound image of an unborn baby. Anywho, a very accurate estimation can be made as to how much oil is in a given region after thorough analysis.

Why Don't Obama Pelosi & Reid Want To Drill Up Oil?

If Obama wins and its Democrats in control again over congress- We won't ever drill! OIL is the BLOOD of the economy!

Pelosi is blocking Natural Gas and Nuclear- So how would they fix the economy? Don't make sense- none of this election does! Why Don't Obama Pelosi %26amp; Reid Want To Drill Up Oil?
Next, we need to get serious about energy. Anyone who offers up easy answers on how to fix this crisis is dead wrong. Even with gasoline dropping lately, home heating oil, electric bills and the costs to the environment are still only going up.

If you think a plan to get us out of this problem is to ';drill baby drill'; you are way behind the times. Brazil - I REPEAT - Brazil decided during the Arab Oil Embargo to get itself away from all foreign oil imports. IT TOOK A QUARTER OF A CENTURY, BILLIONS OF DOLLARS OF TAX MONEY FOR INFRASTRUCTURE, FAITH IN SCIENCE AND A COLLECTIVE WILL TO CHANGE.

That is what we need. If you think drilling in ANWAR or off the coast of the Carolinas is the answer - YOU ARE WRONG. We can no longer look to the technologies and energy uses of the last 150 years to get us through the next 50. Again, Brazil did it by:

    - Mandating cars sold in Brazil are able to run off oil and biodiesel and ethanol. They decided to take a crop they have in abundance and convert it to fuel - SUGAR CANE. Thats right, they take the left over product from producing sugar and turn it into fuel for their cars.

It can be done. Its not about liberal vs cons, right vs left, dem vs rep, environmentalist vs realist... BRAZIL HAS DONE IT. WHAT IS OUR EXCUSEWhy Don't Obama Pelosi %26amp; Reid Want To Drill Up Oil?
Firstly, drilling oil involves destroying the environment around the drill site, which can endanger many animal species.

Secondly, oil is very, very dirty, and when being transported across oceans, if it spills can be deadly to local sea creatures.

Thirdly, oil is a fossil fuel, used to make petrol, plastics etc. All of which are very bad for the environment and add to greenhouse gases, we want to replace fossil fuels with alternatives such as solar power, wind power, etc which are better for the environment.

If we don't do this, we won't survive much longer :).
Do you realize that we could be on the brink of Extension mostly due to oil. Do you realize that this earth is not going to tolerate more and more pollution. Obamas plan is to utilize other options such as solar, wind, nuclear(long as its clean) in the time that it would take to build all these rigs. As well as creating millions of jobs. And then it's not like theres a never ending supply if we do start drilling. We have to be smarter than we have been in the past. We have the brains and the technology to reverse this awful cycle of pollution and greed. Germany has gone to solar power in a huge way. And all the people that use solar power are compensated for whatever they dont use because the power company buys it and sells it to others and cut there electric bills to average $7.00/month. Perfectly clean energy. Genius. Go Obama lead us on the way.

    Obama/Biden 08'
i get so tired of hearing people saying that america uses 25 percent of the oil but only has 3 percent of it here...they arnt fooling anyone with that anymore.let me break it down for you i promise to go slow...america uses 25 percent of whats drilled..america has up to 3 percent of the worlds total UN-DRILLED oil offshore..if america would drill there it would produce up to 30 years of oil for america.and it would NOT take 10 years to get it to market..americas leading drill experts have stated it would take only 1 to 2 years.....so i say DRILL BABY DRILL.
    Maybe you remember that at the last set of congressional hearings regarding the ';oil crisis';, Maxine Water inadvertently blurted out that she and her Dem buddies wanted to '; take over the oil companies and socialize the industry';

And how the Dem's walked out during summer recess while the crisis was at it height without addressing the issue. A mere vote to drill would have been signal enough for the markets and prices to stabailze. But no not Dem !

    As usual the Dem's can't win if the country is doing well ! They want to be the party to ';take away your pain';

Wake up ....market forces determine the price of oil more than anything or anyone else. Just look at the current price of a gallon of gas!

More supply, despite demand price goes down....

The Dems know if we were drill and have greater supplies of oil; especially during those times of strong economic activity, the price of oil remembers stabile.

Hence if they voted to drill = no issues to push their socialist agenda. No pain for the masses = not good for the dems.

Conclusion...The Dems screwed up Fannie/Freddie...did nothing to stabilize the price of oil ...all of which destroyed the economy, put us in another trillion dollars worth of debt. For what ? Their political gain and control. Now we're going to hire the same bunch of thugs who almost single handedly got us into this mess?

No you say the dems aren't manipulating us....Then why all of this right before an election....the timing is so perfect it has to be suspect!

    Wake up Obamanation

    Be Afraid 1984

Cuba recently announced they have found oil off of their shores, approximately 10 billion barrels, just 100 miles from us...we should be drilling, too. Obama supporters will recite the same tripe that most Democrats in the House and Senate are saying that it would be 10 years before we saw any of this oil. Presidents for the last 25 years have advocated offshore drilling so if we had started drilling 25 years ago we would now be using our own oil.
If you were following this election properly you would know that America uses 25% of the worlds oil, yet only has 3% of it! That means if you were to suck up every drop, you will be causing a lot of damage to your natural resources and environment and still not be able to meet even 20% of your needs. Now do you get it? Make money another way, then pay someone to mess up their own countries resources.
It's because of these 3 individuals that I switched from voting a straight democratic ticket to voting for McCain and a select few democrats.

We don't need Obama in office with a blank check to spend us further into bankruptcy by sharing the wealth with all his socialist leaning buddies.

    Drill baby Drill!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's not drilling at all; it's the drilling rights in new locations (particularly offshore) when there are still plenty of already-granted places where drilling could take place, without granting new rights. Off-shore drilling, I think is more profitable than drilling in current fields, which is why the oil companies want new sites.
    Not needed that's why.

Yawn, the price of oil was artificially run up by speculators and Bush did NOTHING!!! And he could had released oil from the strategic reserve to had brought down the price of oil but din't because he was either to stupid or bought by his oil buddies.

Since oil can still be drilled for and brought from the Arabian penisula way cheaper that drilling in remote places in the USA, just how do you think that will solve anything? Of wait, you lib bashers DON';T THINK!
    its called 'New Party';

    http://worldnetdaily.com/index.php?fa=PA鈥?/a>
There is no shortage or oil. Gas prices are high because of GREED. Once Obama gets elected he will have to straighten out everything the previous idiot did.
Because as much as Obama wants to talk about McCain giving oil companies tax breaks, the big 3 are the ones really in bed with them.
We don't need to. If you tune up your car and keep the tire pressure just right, it'll have the same effect as drilling our own oil.
she's waiting for the Dem to be elected to the white house. Then she will make the announcement to drill.
They want America to fail to bring in a new world order People WAKE UP !

  • Now that gas has gone down there's no reason to drill the oil here is there?

La, la, la, la,la, la, la, la, La, La.Now that gas has gone down there's no reason to drill the oil here is there?
Of course there is. We shouldn't be reliant on other countries for oil when we have more than enough right here..Now that gas has gone down there's no reason to drill the oil here is there?
Gas prices have gone down because less people are driving. Not because we have more gas, but because there is less demand for it.

We shouldn't be reliant on foreign oil; or any oil for that matter. We need to start thinking; How can I replace oil? Not; How can we get more oil?

Starting an oil well right now won't produce any oil for 10 years. But we should keep drilling the oil wells we have going right now, of course, until we can get off this oil dependence.
Even if we had total solar powered energy we would still need Oil. Oil is used in almost every industry. Oil is critical for our military, our airlines, plastic production...and the list goes on. If we were in a major war or disaster, we would not want to be dependent on other countries to produce this vital black blood that gives life to America as we know it. Granted it would be nice if our blood were a little greener...but its not, and will not be for a long time.Good green technology can replace lots of the current need for Oil, but there will always be a need for Oil.
The reasons to drill here still exist:

    - to become less reliant upon foreign oil, especially oil from countries that do not like us

    - to keep more money within our borders, and not enrich countries that hate us

The oil companies have wanted access to that oil since well BEFORE the price of oil increased so much. The more oil they pump and own, the more they profit.
YES, we have loads of oil in the USA, it was provided to us, along with loads of other resources, by GOD, when he created this part of the world!! We also have oceans of natural gas, So why are we not using it, why are we making the sheiks with the sheets rich?? good grief, Who is gonna put a stop to the importing of oil from the mid east? I just saw on the news, that since we pay so much for gas, the the new hotel we built in Dubai!! had the largest fire works display ever!! is anyone listening here!! we paid for all that, and we have loads of oil in this country!!!! and we are loosing jobs daily!! while the sheiks, are all having a good time on us!! when will it end? When will we stop being the laughing stock of the world!!!
Actually there is a reason to drill here... and it's called OPEC... :/

ADD: The Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) is a cartel of 12 countries made up of Algeria, Angola, Ecuador, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Libya, Nigeria, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Venezuela.

And how many of these countries hate us or at least doesn't like us very well?
The decline in prices will not last. We MUST be energy independent! Drilling is only part of the problem. Alternate sources must be developed. Super fuel efficient cars must be mandated. We have given trillions away over the years to countries that hate us all in the name of oil.
and when the executive order gets back in place to ban offshore drilling when Obama takes office be prepared for the gas price to go back up. Then you'll wish once again that America would have drilled.
The threat of drilling is a reason gas is falling. But yeah, we still have reason to drill because it can still raise again.
There should still be a rush to drill, but people seem to ignore it when it's currently not a problem. We never learn.
When gas gets back to $4 a gallon next summer everyone will sing a different tune.
You are so right! We have no dependency on foreign oil now. You are so smart.
Still plenty of reason. In fact when oil is down is the perfect time.
    Down with oil!!!!!!!!!!!-ride a bike

    take a walk

    don't do anything
    It'll go up again.

We need to make the middle east unimportant.

    Drill, baby Drill!
I'm glad at least one person understands how the political rhetoric works.
Only if we want to stop giving our money to people who hate us.

What kind of map would you use to plan where to drill for oil?

    none - and all.

Topographic maps may contain hints at the underlying structures, so might geological maps, hydrological maps, and a lot more.

What's really useful is a seismic profile. What kind of map would you use to plan where to drill for oil?
topographical cuz it shows the heights of things

Do you know that if we drill for oil in the US restricted areas

That the oil we receive from that would take at least 10 years to develop and then the oil would be placed on the world market for world consumption. This would not lower the gas cost very much because the amount of oil we would get from offshore drilling would only be a very small fraction of the amount of oil needed to significantly reduce cost. Source: Department of Energy finding last year that stated what the effect of domestic drilling would be on the world market.Do you know that if we drill for oil in the US restricted areas
This is a heated debate, so I decided to do some of my own research. All of this information came from the U.S. Department of Energy website. There is estimated to be as many as 18 billion barrels of oil in the outer continental shelf banned areas 4.3 billion barrels of oil in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR) = 22.3 billion barrels of oil, now divide that by the 20.7 million barrels of oil we consume a day and you get 2.95 years of oil. That is the BEST CASE scenario people.

All of this fighting for three years worth of oil. Is it really bad to protect the last pristine habitat on the continent (ANWR) if we can only get a fifteen month supply from it? Do you think maybe we should unbury our heads from the sand and admit we have a problem that drilling won't solve?Do you know that if we drill for oil in the US restricted areas
Your logic is flawed in several ways: One any increase in supply will lower the prices. Oil has fallen over 20$ a barrel and the price at the pump has fallen over 60 cents in some areas and this is just because Bush lifted the ban. Imgine what it will do if Congress does the same.

Second point is this. The govt wants to pay for all these social services and programs and makes more off of a barrel of oil than the BIG BAD OIL COMPANIES so if we allow drilling imagine the tax benefits to the govt that you put so much stock in? You also forgot to mention the Montana, ND and SD oil fields and the shale oil in the Rocky Mountins which total over 1 trillion barrels of oil enough for at least a century which could give us the time to actually impliment your precious alternative energies and give us time to study their environmental impact.
Under that logic, we should immediately STOP any drilling we ARE doing, since it doesn't do any good anyway. This demonstrates the ignorance behind the original question.

The US buys and sells on the world market. We import more than we export. But it's all one market.

Also, estimates are that much of the oil from Alaska could be flowing in as little as three years. And the market responds to anticipated increases in supply, bringing prices down.
We have lots of oil in the ground in the U.S.. The Big Oil companies have leases on 68,000,000 acres of land (33,000,000 are off-shore) but they are not drilling on it. I am waiting to see how the oil boys protest if Congress pursues the ';use it or lose it'; Bill to force them to drill or give up the leases. It will also be interesting since most places the oil people want off-shore drilling rights are States with Republican Governors who say they want to okay drilling, but, ';not in my State';. The reduction in the fine for the last big oil spill will not get any points for getting approval either.
I do not understand the logic behind your argument. SO WHAT if it takes 10 years to reap the benefits of starting to drill in ANWR? Why did you go to school for 12 years (I assume you graduated, LOL)? Did you expect to be making money in first grade from your education? In other words, you (or at least your parents) knew that an education was important for your LONG-TERM success. The same is true for becoming more energy independent. No one has a crystal ball. We don't know what the world market will be like in 10 years. Odds are... if anything... it will be worse... not better. So why wouldn't we want to invest in our future by making ourselves more independent? And I challenge that we won't see a financial benefit before then... if nothing else because the oil cartels will respond to the fact that they are not going to be the only game in town.

So, if you think anything you have written in any way negates the importance of drilling in ANWR or off-shore... you are quite mistaken.
If the numbers being thrown around above are reasonably accurate, we are talking about $2.7 trillion dollars worth of oil at todays prices. ($120.00 per barrel)

Whether we sell it on the world market or use it our selves, that's a nice reduction in our trade deficit, along with a lot of other economic benifits. If we build the refinery capacity to refine it our selves, the numbers go through the roof. It's dumb not to do this.
I do know it would become part of the world market and could increase world supply dramatically thus lowering prices for oil. As for the 10 years to develop and produce oil, that is a fallacy perpetrated by anti-drilling extremists, we would likely see results within two years..

We also are projected to have more oil available in the US, from all sources, than the entire Middle East..
It would not take ten years to recover the oil, although I agree it would be sold on the world market.

When it is said to be ';only a three year supply'; that means that if we used the recovered oil solely for America and didn't buy any foriegn oil during that time the supply would meet our current demands for three years. It is a very mis-leading statement becuase that is NOT what would happen.
You've been listening to Obama. the fact is, according to e.i.a, the u.s. has 216 billion of barrels of proven oil reserves, Saudi Arabia has 263. Some oil can be gotten much faster than 10 years because the infrastructure is already there. There is a bill that includes streamlining how environmental groups fight oil companies. They have been able to sue them for individual cases and that can take years. The new bill would require them to combine all cases.

But the most important reason to drill is because in 10 years we will still need oil and I would prefer it was U.S. oil.

It is completely false that the oil companies don't use their leases. There are 4,000 rigs is the western Gulf now. The other leased area is in the process or is being explored and the areas that don't contain enough oil are returned to the government. That is mandatory and has always been the way it's done.
When the information doesn't come out of Sean Hannity's or Rush Limbaugh's mouth, then it can't be true according to mass of republican voters. When a report is done by the Energy administration (a branch of the government) showing that drilling wont have an impact until 2030.....these repugs will not believe it until its mentioned on Fox news or on right wing radio. They have to hear it from their corporate masters who they so dutifully obey.
You are very wrong. If we tapped all of our options, the US could sustain itself for over 200 years. Prices would go down immediately. Speculators look toward the furture for oil supply. Prices went down as soon as Bush talked about oil exploration.

Also, it may be part of the world market, but it would only help our economy. Billions of dollars would stay within our borders other than going to the middle east.
You are wrong on every count. Looks like your only news source in Yahoo answers.

We could get more oil into the market in less than five years. Congress could restrict exports of this oil like they did with oil from the Alaska pipeline. It would lower costs by reducing the decline in the dollar, increasing worldwide oil supply, reducing the impact of speculators.
I don't understand that argument at all.

    1. If it is going to take ten years, we should start as soon as possible.

    2. If I save for my retirement, I won't see any benefit for another 20 years, so should I not bother ?

    3. More supply will lower pricing.

    4. We aren't going to need oil in 10 years ?
Yes most people realize that, the problem is that to explain that takes more than 6 words, so it can be hard for people to understand.

';Drill here drill now pay less'; is well recieved in our sound bite culture, even though it's total lie.
Propaganda! It can be up and running in a yr!

Besides becoming part of the world market will lower prices everywhere not just here.
    that's true

the most optimistic estimate I've seen is a reduction in price of 0.25 per gallon.

and that would be short term !

but most say it would be far less, under ten cents per gallon.
only a tree hugger would want to leave $450 BILLION DOLLARS in the ground, just so we dont scare a couple of caribou in anwr. We can use the oil, we can use the money
    Yes.

Did you know that doing nothing results in no new oil coming to market?
so what? lets do it anyways and find out cheif.
maybe %26amp; you radical tree huggin libs said the same thing 10yrs ago, so just where are we right now 10 yrs later?
You are correct. The oil would reach the market in about 10 years and maybe affect the price by .03 to .04 cents. Also, there are currently 817 open leases on about 68 million acres for the oil companies to drill, and they are only actively drilling on about 120 - so the whole thing about off shore drilling is a game. All we would do is add another 100 leases to the 700 that currently exist and are not drilling on.

The oil companies are posting record profits and not spending ANYTHING on future oil exploration and discovery.

The entire thing is rigged - its all inflated due to speculation - the same thing that bankrupted ENRON, that is where we need to start for the immediate adjustment of prices, then reduce the demand by alternative fules sources. That is THE ONLY way we as consumers get any relief. The whole off shore drilling line is a political game and tool.

**Edit: Ned S - Exactly! What does that tell you that Bush doing little more than a cermonial act and it lowered the price - Outlaw speculation write congressmen and senators and have them stop the speculation - start there and don't put all of your eggs in the ';offshore drillling basket'; that is all people are saying - simply drilling offshore does not fix the problem. The problem is only fixed when we no longer need to rely so heavily on oil - alternative fuel sources is the only thing that truly fixes the problem, everything else is just a band aid.

What are the procedure to get oil exploration company to drill a well, when one discovers a naturaloil seepage?

The very first thing you should do is to check on the ';Mineral Rights'; to the property where you found the oil seepage. You might alert an oil company only to find out that someone in the past sold the mineral rights and someone else owns the oil under the property.

After you check on that, then try contacting an oil drilling company. Try here:

    http://www.hoovers.com/oil-%26amp;-gas-well-dr鈥?/a>

~What are the procedure to get oil exploration company to drill a well, when one discovers a naturaloil seepage?
if the seep is on your property, keep yer lip zipped until you can pay to have the place drilled yourself..... no reason to give it to a huge corporation when you could profit from it!.... note, too, whether there's a reason you might not be allowed to drill there.... as stated above (no mineral rights) or an endangered species....What are the procedure to get oil exploration company to drill a well, when one discovers a naturaloil seepage?
Thats more likely a sign of a problem, not a Jed Clampett moment. Oil doesnt normally do that. Not in the US. I would contact your state Environmental Quality agency first.
Are your mineral rights in California? You can email me and I could explain or help. My email address is: tm59707@classicnet.net

Why do so many Americans still refuse to drill for oil IN America!?!?!?

Do you enjoy your depedancy on foreign oil?Why do so many Americans still refuse to drill for oil IN America!?!?!?
Arrogance. It seems OK for other nations to upset their environment to drill for oil for our use but how dare anyone suggest that we might upset ours to feed our own addiction to oil. How pathetic are those people..Why do so many Americans still refuse to drill for oil IN America!?!?!?
It's not the average American saying not to drill for oil. Its a small fringe group of environmentalist that have way too much power. Despite thata America is a demoncracy, and have basically voiced their opinions to drill for oil in such places as ANWAR and the Gulf of Mexico, we can't do it because it might damage the environment and hasten global warming. Although it's perfectly alright for other countries such as Cuba and China to drill 60 miles off of America's coast line in the Gulf of Mexico. And not to mention that the billions of people in China and India far exceed the pollution that America produces. Yet it's environmentally unsound for us to drill in these areas even though we would take a very small location to do so and our practices are friendlier to the environment than other nations such as China, Cuba, and Mexico.
Climate change is real, so drilling for oil will accelerate that. Alternative energy is the path America needs to take. Not only to rid our dependency on foreign oil, but to lead the way to a cleaner planet, and to export the technology that will get us there. Americans put a man on the moon...so what is the problem that we can't solve? Status quo at this point just won't cut it...Republicans (conservatives) offer empty and simplistic remedies...that the ';market'; of supply and demand will cure all our ills. And that is a reckless path this country can't afford to take. We need a new day...a new direction... And whether you like it or not...it is the liberals who will take us there...like they've done before. We're all Americans...the '; L'; words belongs to all of us, and should not to be used in smear or fear amongst ourselves. The people who enjoy our dependency on foreign oil most are also Americans ( big oil) who want nothing more than the status quo, so they can stick it up our @ss even deeper. We have met the enemy...and it is US!!!
being one of the lowest forms of life in America, i believe you have asked the wrong question. the question that needs to be asked is: why are the oil companies NOT drilling for oil in the offshore drilling areas that THEY HAVE PERMITS FOR?? they drill in less than 1/4 of the permitted area. why is that? perchance it keeps the price of oil artificially high? nah. those big business conservative patriots would NEVER do a thing like that. or would they??
It's not Americans refusing... even if there were that many, since when does our corporate government listen to the people?

The reasons we are not pulling more oil out of the ground have nothing to do with environmental issues, lobbyists, liberals, or scarcity of resources. These are all distractions spoonfed to the gibbering brainwashed American public.

The problem for the oil companies, the IMF and World Bank, and the globalists who are bleeding our country dry, is that there's too MUCH oil. They want to keep it in the ground and convince us that it's running out, so that we won't riot when they ask us to pay through the noses for it. They make sure that anyone in the oil business who won't play ball gets bombed back into the stone age or forcibly overtaken (Iraq, Iran).

The name of the game is ARTIFICIAL SCARCITY. Sorry, but this is how global economics works. Your government does not care about you. They sold you out. America is run by the Federal Reserve, IMF and World Bank now.

And they control BOTH parties, by the way, so lets put an end to the partisan bickering. It will get us nowhere.
I support it, I just want to know why they haven't been doing it? I also wonder why so many wells have been capped here in this country. I also wonder why so many refineries have been shut down over the past twenty + years, and why Ronnie %26amp; DADDY decided NOT to drill off our coasts, and why Jeb told junior NOT to drill off the coast of Floridah, and junior agereed? I wonder why after so many years of republican control we are just now becoming aware of the fact that there are thousands of parcels available to drill on, and they have not been explored? Why do the republicans hate this country so much?
The oil companies already have leases to millions of acres of public land and they are not drilling on most of them. They have no incentive to drill because they are making money hand over fist by just sitting on those leases. Giving them control over more public land isn't going to help us.

Even if they actually drilled on the newly-leased land, there would be no immediate effect on prices and very little long-term effect. We need to be realistic and look at our options.

It is estimated that even switching to hybrids would save us 3.8 million barrels a day, which is twice the number of barrels that the new drilling would eventually bring in. We need a serious push for alternatives. This is something that was started 30 years ago but essentially abandoned in favor of continued dependence on oil.
well..lets look at this logically shall we?

It's a supply and demand issue isn't it? If that's true, why is it when production is increased by 700,000 a day and use is down 6.6% and stockpiles are rising and over the 5 year average.....prices still are rising?

Sounds like supply is rising, demand is lowering and prices are still rising?? Why is that ?? Wow...

Could it be the low value on the dollar or the commodity brokers piling money into the market on speculation?? Nope can't be that right ?? Nope..LET'S DRILL !!!!!

    Dumb Lemming......
What for, it would take 20 years to get us the first drops and then it would be around 200,000 barrels a day, that's compared to the 20 million we consume each day not even a drop in the bucket.

If everybody would pump up their tires, we would save 3 times as much as we can produce there. It just has no justification other then make three oil barons rich.
You have to understand that your government is not for your interests, they are trying to control you, there is no shortage of oil, it's all over the world, you have huge oil wells in Alaska, and gas, but they are being kept quiet, the Russians have planted their flag on some of it.
You'd have to ask the oil companies who have leases on land here that they haven't touched.

Besides... it's very naive to think that oil drilled in the U.S. would STAY in the U.S.

It would be more profitable for the oil companies to export it. And they're under no obligation to keep it here.
because, it won't help the specs still are in control and will use other excuses. we need bush out of office for a change and it won't happen with mcsame.
A great majority of non drillers are democrats. My thinking is they want us all to live in the stone age. Maybe they will even try to save the saber toothed cat.
    Its the ';nimby'; principle
They're called liberals aka, the lowest form of life in America.
There are so many environmental concerns esp. with off shore drilling.
Unlike cons, we all drive fuel efficient vehicles. Enjoy your SUV.
i think it'd be better if we actually drilled oil in the U.S because of the pricing's.
Yup, It's the liberals fault We have to suffer with the high gas prices.
I support drilling anywhere and everywhere---our society runs on fossil fuels- whether we like it or not

What's a person who drills in areas not known to be oil fields?

it's for a paper and i have to know it QUICK! please and thank you! What's a person who drills in areas not known to be oil fields?
Dentist, carpenter, machinist, water well driller, soldier. What's a person who drills in areas not known to be oil fields?
    an idiot.
A gardener or nurseryman. Drilling is a means of planting or seeding.
    dentist

Is this a good argument for while we shouldn't drill for our own oil now?

The main ';reason'; I have heard liberals give for why we shouldn't drill for our own oil is because it would be years before we could reap any benefit from it (duh).

Do you feel that this is a legitimate, reasoned, logical argument against beginning drilling now?

Or... do you feel this is the most hair-brained, silliest, nonsensical argument against beginning drilling now that you have yet heard? Is this a good argument for while we shouldn't drill for our own oil now?
Yes, SOME dumb***es even PLANTED ORCHARDS with the full knowledge that it would take decades for them to produce....

We used to call it, ';foresight';, now it's just considered dumb to invest in the future. Is this a good argument for while we shouldn't drill for our own oil now?
Look, oil is going to get more expensive, no matter what we do.

Why? Because even if we drill everywhere, we don't have enough to change the basic facts: that demand for oil will keep increasing (due to developing countries) and supply of oil will keep decreasing. That means prices will keep rising. The cost of extraction will also increase because we are using up the ';easy to get'; oil and will have to move on to the ';hard to get'; oil.

So oil prices are going to go up. ...which means that if we keep our economy attached to oil, things are going to get very bad. The only smart solution is to invest as much as possible in alternative energy technologies, so that we can kick our oil habit as soon as we possibly can.

Because look, if our economy is still hooked on oil when the prices hit $8 and $12 and $16 per gallon, our country will be totally screwed. And what good would the extra wells do? They might bring the price down by a buck or two, say $14/gal instead of $16. That's too little, too late. We need to get off the oil addiction before then... because it is a path to economic disaster.
    drill here drill now

When will they impeach Pelosi and Reid, so we can drill for oil?

pelosi said she would not let congress vote to let oil conpanies drill, these people are too rich to understand the people are hurting----------and we need to do all we can to lower gas prices, in turn lowering food and other basic needs before the country goes bankruptWhen will they impeach Pelosi and Reid, so we can drill for oil?
great suggestion, i wish they could both be impeached, sanctimonius snobs.....they don't give a shite about the little guy, there bellies and pockets are full..with all they can steal from the unsuspecting fools that put them into

office....be careful what you wish forWhen will they impeach Pelosi and Reid, so we can drill for oil?
Yes, I agree, we need to drill, drill, drill, until we have used up every drop of oil in the earth. We need to do this as soon as possible so that there will be no oil left for future generations. And we need to do this very quickly so that the price of oil stays low. That way we will have no incentive to develop any alternative energy technologies, and then when we run out of oil, we can go back to living in the stone age.
there goes another one that was short changed when they were passing them out.

FYI. gas was $1.30 a gallon when Bush was sworn in as president. Since that time it has steadily gone up in price.

By the way...during the same time, oil companies have made ';record'; profits. Meanwhile science has determined that global warming/ green house gases are a danger to life on the planet.

I would say impeach Bush and also charge him with war crimes for his iraq venture and his torturing of prisoners and the millions of people who he has either caused to die or displaced from their homes. And how about this, what about developing some cars that dont use gasoline. lol

(edit) good one rollo !! way to poke fun at them.
There are plenty of leases out there to drill on, there are plenty of wells that have been capped lying fallow. Open them up drill on the open parcels already available.
