Because Obama wants to keep us down, dependent on middle-east oil kings. Seems to me like Obama has already made some kind of deal....to keep us under the thumbs of those who want to control us and our economy. It's easier to control the masses when they are down in the dirt.Re: America drilling for their own oil...why wont B Hussein Obama say ';yes we can!?';?
I suppose you are referring to opening the coasts and ANWR to drilling. It would barely make a dime's worth of difference. Literally. Economists have looked into it and have concluded that once fully operational offshore and ANWR drilling will reduce the price of gas by about $0.12 per gallon. Much of the oil extracted will be outsourced to other countries. In addition, extracting oil from coasts is so energy intensive that it does not yield much net gain in energy.Re: America drilling for their own oil...why wont B Hussein Obama say ';yes we can!?';?
Um, we drill for our own oil. go see blm oil leases. the blm is the bureau of land managment. they get a ton of money from oil lease to us oil corp. in oil and gas royalties.
it is a govt agency. we get 40 percent of our own oil from the US. always have.
also see the mineral managment agecny an agency within the us govts dept of the interior all found by googling them or going to www.usa.gov see the energy information agency as well. have fun learning something new.
they stopped drilling all over la for housing development the LA area has a lot of oil still
As kid there were oil fields near schools, parks and houses. THey closed them up but should reopne them.

Because more drilling isn't going to reduce gas prices by any significant amount, it'll take years before the oil starts flowing and even longer before we see any sort of price drop. Of course by then you really wouldn't notice the savings.
Besides, more drilling is only going to prolong our addiction to oil. We need start kicking the habit NOW!
Flower:
He will change his mind, but not like you think. Yes drilling for America's own oil, not for Exxon, Mobil, BP, Shell oil. By Americans drilling for America. After ALL leases are canceled or rescinded. NO more hundreds of billions for Big Oil companies. Their gouging days are over.
He isn't the only one that feels we shouldn't. It has no short term effect. You won't see gas prices reduce because of it. If they do, it won't be all that substantial. The oil industry also has areas that have been approved for use that they haven't even touched on yet. Ask them why? They don't want to increase supply. The politicians really cannot do anything on this issue, neither Republican or Democrat. We are stuck with $5/gallon gas for quite some time (if not higher).
Because he is not a good candidate for president. He wants gas prices to go up. He even said so himself. Does he think that less money in your pocket it going to help the economy? He is going to be one of the worst presidents we have ever had. The people who are most likely to vote for him, have the least life experience.
Go ahead and set up your oil rigs and begin drilling. When 5-10 years later you get a spurt of crude let us know. Drilling for more oil here in America is going to amount to a only ';drop'; in your gas tank. A multifaceted approach to solving this problem is what is needed.
Get you black and decker and drill whatever you want,Obama will say yes you can. He doesn't hold the power to stop oil companies from drilling. The oil companies are stopping themselves in some places, others are drilling.
hope! change!
there are over 40 million acres of leased oil land that isn't currently being drilled. start drilling and quit complaining.......
When it comes to America becoming energy independent, Obama's Policy is ';Oh Nah Yo Di'int!';
Drilling isn't the answer.
He's going to keep saying no so he can get the tree huger vote.
Why don't they drill the land they already have leased?
Because obviously he doesn't support it.
