We could have had our oil by now!!! Why are they still blocking it? Aren't Democrats supposed to be champions of ';thinking about our children's future?';If Dems argue that drilling in ANWR takes 10 yrs to produce oil, why did Bill Clinton block this back in 1994?
OUTSTANDING POINT! Democrats will complain about the high costs of oil, but don't want to actually do anything to help lower the cost by decreasing our dependence on foreign oil.If Dems argue that drilling in ANWR takes 10 yrs to produce oil, why did Bill Clinton block this back in 1994?
Because there was no need for it then, just as no need for it now. This drilling is not some ';magic'; answer that will end our dependence on oil. If we get a million additional gallons, we will use a million and a half. The issue is we need to park these big SUV's and wasting oil as if we are the only ones entitled to it. America is quickly finding out, many want it more badly than us and are willing to pay for it.
Primarily because Bill Clinton was able to get the Saudis to agree that $30/barrel was adequate and that supply could be maintained.
Now Bush on the other hand did not step in and use his influence to persuade them to maintain production. Now we are facing a dwindling supply, and record revenues and profits for the oil companies.
Who do you think had their eye on our children's future?
BTW...NO ONE KNOWS HOW MUCH OIL IS UP THERE TO BEGIN WITH...
We are and that is why we do not want to upset the ecological balance in this area. It would disrupt the food chain and much more.
I persoanlly saw what drilling did to the wildlife and ecosystem on North Padre Island and it is because of the knowledge taken from NPI that ANWR has been righfully blocked.
Caring about our kids futures means leaving them a clean and sustainable earth too.
They've been blocking US Oil Production since the 70's,anything to do with energy production, nuclear, hydroelectric, gas, coa鈥?gets blocked.
Solar and wind power is where they are heavily invested.
Our children's future means nothing,it's the campaign contributions and bribes that count.
Wildlife Reserve %26gt; Oil.
If you want to gas up your mondo SUV then you can go up there and get it yourself.
I'm a democrat on most social issues, but I'm glad Gas prices are going up (we're just now catching up to what Gas cost in the U.K. several years ago).
If you don't like the price of gas - find another way of getting around.
The oil would take 10 years but the damage done to the ecology of the region would have begun immediately.
As the Earth continues to warm, Alaska may end up being the only legacy we have left for our children.
When thinking about my children's future I hope that the energy they consume will not come at the price war or by burning fossil fuel. I hope that more intelligent ways of energy production will make drilling for oil obsolete.
That would just make too much sense, now wouldn't it?
By the way the notion that there is only a six month supply of oil in ANWR is complete B.S.
In 1994, Bush's invasion of Iraq hadn't shot gas prices up to $3.50 per gallon.
In 1994, we were only paying about $1.50 per gallon. There was no need to panic at that time.
because of environmental laws. and back then oil was way cheaper. plus thinking about our children's future to me would be finding alternate energy resources.
A better question for the Clinton/Gore regime is why they did so little towards alternative energy...
Because hes a Lib who is more worried about cow towing to special interest groups and not the general consensus.
Because Clinton was a moron!
Remember Al Gore, Green Peace, the Sierra Club and People for Ethical Treatment of Animals? That's why.
There's not much there. At all.
