Where in the U..S do they still drill for oil? What is the oil used for besides gasoline?

Best answer gets the 10 pointsWhere in the U..S do they still drill for oil? What is the oil used for besides gasoline?
In the early 1970s, most of the most easily accessible oil had been tapped out. We reached a point where supply began to flatten out. This is called ';peak oil.'; This means that the amount of crude oil we could extract in all of the combined U.S. oil fields began to decline. The world is now entering a period where the concept of ';peak oil'; applies to the world supply of oil. That's why the cost of oil has risen to over $100.00 per barrel and is expected to rise exponentially.

At that point, the U.S. started to import more foreign oil. We still explore and have oil fields, however, we will never be able to pump as much as we did in the 1970s. Texas, Oklahoma, and Alaska all have oil fields, however, this isn't enough for the U.S. economy.

Refineries distill oil into:

- Jet fuel

- Kerosine

- Gasoline

- Diesel

- Heating oil

- Lubricants

- Some Medicines

Oil is also used in making fertilizer and creating plastics and explosives. Over 86% of the U.S. energy needs are met by burning fossil fuels. We do use coal as well, but this is a very dirty energy source and it contributes to global warming even more than burning the equivalent energy in oil.Where in the U..S do they still drill for oil? Try Alaska
Natural gas is a by product of drilling for oil.
Petroleum products are use for plastics, tires, as well as fuels such as gasoline, heating oil, etc...
Oh... in many states like Alaska, California, Texas and last year the bill was past to drill more at the Colorado rocky mountains.

Oil is used for many stuffs in daily life, most importantly for global warming.......
Oil is used for hundreds of things. Plastic trash bags, plastic soda bottles...the list is endless. Manufacturing what we use every day uses much more oil then automobile consumption. For instance...the bottled water that is imported into the U.S. uses one bottle of oil for every one bottle of water because of manufacturing costs and transportation.US has oil fields in Texas and Alaska.

Home heating oil also consumes a high % of oil.
There are several oil fields here in West Michigan that are still active.

The oil found can be used for fuel (heating, gas, diesel, etc.), lubricants (everything from motor oil to musical instrument lubricants), rubbers, and plastics.
Anywhere we can, PA, Ohio, Texas, Alaska, Colorado. Oil is used for everything and we completely depend on it. EVERYTHING PLASTIC is made from oil, it's used in our foods, as lubricants, for asphault, paints, fabrics (synthetic fiber (nylon)), ink, dyes. We are completely dependent on it even if gasoline were to be replaced with alternative fuels, that is the reality and it won't go away anytime soon.
