I'm an Independent - neither right nor left wing fringe member - I consider myself a slightly right leaning/center moderate. Therefore, I'm not really a ';liberal';, but I can explain - as can anyone who approaches the question in an open and honest manner. The reason is billionaire Obama supporter George Soros (a.k.a. ';The Man who Broke the Bank of England';), founder of Media Matters. Soros is a huge investor in the oil company to which Obama is giving $2 billion. Cronyism? Well, it is the Chicago Way. Let's not be too hard on Obama, the ';Chicago Way'; is all he knows...

To sum it up,





Last week in Las Vegas, Obama offered the same criticism 鈥?that oil companies haven鈥檛 drilled on the leases they already have. That鈥檚 poppycock, as the Journal explains. Not all leases get drilled because not all leases have oil. The producers spend millions of dollars on geological surveys to limit bad investments and put resources where the oil can be accessed. Right now, the best prospects for finding new fields are in the OCS, as Brazil has shown in two finds this year alone. In 2006, we found a huge deep-sea reservoir in the Gulf: Wilcox, which may have as much as 15 billion barrels of recoverable oil.
Cheaper and less full of death than ';investing'; several TRILLION dollars in Iraqi oil...





Not to mention they get to be the ones who mess up the beauty of their country... while we sit here with pristine beaches... What's not to like?! Oil on our shores should be a last resort. Not to save the environment.. but to allow us to have a final stock pile that we can control when every other country runs dry.





If we are going to use oil.. a smart thing to do would be to use everyone else's fist.. and then we will be the only ones with any left! lol! How can a conservative not get behind that?!
The Democrat Party wants to destroy America and make it's citizen's dependent upon the one ruling Democrat Party. They'll do anything to make this happen. Just look at their policies. They are giving our money away for things they deem wrong for us to do. The only thing this does is hurt the US.
Actually, the money is not ';our'; money; the loan is coming from the US Import Bank, which is not funded by taxpayer money.





The U.S. Export Import Bank's sole purpose is to lend money to foreign companies for the purchase of American goods and services.

Maybe he is putting a down payment on a 2 Billion vacation home in Brazil. I really do not understand why he will develop another country's oil research and not drill here. Another fine example of throwing away other people's money.
