La, la, la, la,la, la, la, la, La, La.Now that gas has gone down there's no reason to drill the oil here is there?
Of course there is. We shouldn't be reliant on other countries for oil when we have more than enough right here..Now that gas has gone down there's no reason to drill the oil here is there?
Gas prices have gone down because less people are driving. Not because we have more gas, but because there is less demand for it.
We shouldn't be reliant on foreign oil; or any oil for that matter. We need to start thinking; How can I replace oil? Not; How can we get more oil?
Starting an oil well right now won't produce any oil for 10 years. But we should keep drilling the oil wells we have going right now, of course, until we can get off this oil dependence.
Even if we had total solar powered energy we would still need Oil. Oil is used in almost every industry. Oil is critical for our military, our airlines, plastic production...and the list goes on. If we were in a major war or disaster, we would not want to be dependent on other countries to produce this vital black blood that gives life to America as we know it. Granted it would be nice if our blood were a little greener...but its not, and will not be for a long time.Good green technology can replace lots of the current need for Oil, but there will always be a need for Oil.
The reasons to drill here still exist:
- to become less reliant upon foreign oil, especially oil from countries that do not like us
- to keep more money within our borders, and not enrich countries that hate us
The oil companies have wanted access to that oil since well BEFORE the price of oil increased so much. The more oil they pump and own, the more they profit.
YES, we have loads of oil in the USA, it was provided to us, along with loads of other resources, by GOD, when he created this part of the world!! We also have oceans of natural gas, So why are we not using it, why are we making the sheiks with the sheets rich?? good grief, Who is gonna put a stop to the importing of oil from the mid east? I just saw on the news, that since we pay so much for gas, the the new hotel we built in Dubai!! had the largest fire works display ever!! is anyone listening here!! we paid for all that, and we have loads of oil in this country!!!! and we are loosing jobs daily!! while the sheiks, are all having a good time on us!! when will it end? When will we stop being the laughing stock of the world!!!
Actually there is a reason to drill here... and it's called OPEC... :/
ADD: The Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) is a cartel of 12 countries made up of Algeria, Angola, Ecuador, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Libya, Nigeria, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Venezuela.
And how many of these countries hate us or at least doesn't like us very well?
The decline in prices will not last. We MUST be energy independent! Drilling is only part of the problem. Alternate sources must be developed. Super fuel efficient cars must be mandated. We have given trillions away over the years to countries that hate us all in the name of oil.
and when the executive order gets back in place to ban offshore drilling when Obama takes office be prepared for the gas price to go back up. Then you'll wish once again that America would have drilled.
The threat of drilling is a reason gas is falling. But yeah, we still have reason to drill because it can still raise again.
There should still be a rush to drill, but people seem to ignore it when it's currently not a problem. We never learn.
When gas gets back to $4 a gallon next summer everyone will sing a different tune.
You are so right! We have no dependency on foreign oil now. You are so smart.
Still plenty of reason. In fact when oil is down is the perfect time.
Down with oil!!!!!!!!!!!-ride a bike
take a walk
don't do anything
It'll go up again.
We need to make the middle east unimportant.
Drill, baby Drill!
I'm glad at least one person understands how the political rhetoric works.
Only if we want to stop giving our money to people who hate us.
