How can we convince the congress and environmentalist to let us drill for oil in our own country?

More oil is no answer since we're refining to near capacity even a doldt like me knows that, why should we continue an oil based economy that puts cash in terrorist hands, that's pretty effin stupid if you ask me, we are America, if any country can wean itself from oil and find alternate energy solutions it would and should be us. We've had failed leadership on both sides of the aisle for over 30 years on this, if we had earestly sought to make research advances desireable we could already be in a place of energy independence and would have made oil the cow dung of fuels worldwideHow can we convince the congress and environmentalist to let us drill for oil in our own country?
In my opinion they don't intend to drill for oil in our country. If Congress intended to allow drilling, they would have done it many years ago.





According to experts, it would take over 10 years for us to see any result from the drilling and it would require that oil refineries be built.





Personally I don't see that happening anytime soon, but you will still hear the politicians tell the people they are going to solve the oil problem. Politicians will tell you what you want to hear in order to get elected and once in office they don't do anything.How can we convince the congress and environmentalist to let us drill for oil in our own country?
It isn't that they can't...That is just a myth. It is that the oil companies can get oil cheaper and make more profit from foreign oil. A case in point...Shell oil was going to close down a refinery in central California because ';There was no way to meet the newer tougher environmental regulations.'; Under duress they were forced to sell the refinery to another company who is now running it at a profit. If they had gotten their way, they could have closed down the refinery thus reducing the supply and make more money selling less product. The more important question is when are we going to take the tax breaks we gave to the highly profitable oil companies and use the money to develop alternatives to our oil addiction.
i think we should allow oil companies to drill anywhere they want but then the oil stays here and is not traded on the stock exchange or shipped overseas to the highest bidder ,,,we use it here ,,,put the exploration and drilling up for bid on a contract and see how many companies would take this deal
How can we convince government to bring back the electric car?? Or maybe better public transportation would be a conceivable option?





When will people realize that getting more oil is not the solution, it is the PROBLEM. We need to put more emphasis on NOT using oil. It is totally possible.
The left is beholden unto the Sierra Club, Green Peace, and other environmentalist wackos. France produces 79% of its energy through nuclear power. The US produces 20%. The liberals are adamantly opposed to nuclear energy for America (unless it's for Iran, then that's okay).
You have to convince the democratic congress mostly, Bush has tried to do this over and over. They will not go along with anything that will get us off the dependence of foreign countries.

The oil companies fund the environmental groups. Then they can block new refineries etc. from opening thus artificially keeping the price of oil high......what's it at now $125 a barrel?
Write lots of letters. The shortage is costing us a billion dollars a day -- but the caribou on the north slope don't have to look at an oil well.
Earth first then we can drill the other planets later
