Russia wants to seize the artic North to drill for oil, should this be in issue for the US?

Seriously oil under the polar cap? Why on earth would Russia think more oil is the answer? Why is Russia not developing ';clean'; energy? Is their ';ice grab'; something we should be concerned about. If Georgia is to blame for their invasion should we assume Santa Clause did something to tick them off or is this just evidence of a growing problem? Russia wants to seize the artic North to drill for oil, should this be in issue for the US?
Yes, it's true that Russia recently planted their flag near the North Pole in some kind of a bogus attempt to lay claim to the land.


But, why should you have a problem with that?





Look at it this way,


somebody needs to get that oil out of the ground and into the world market. It would ease the energy crunch. No it is not the US (except for Alaska...) it is CANADIAN.





How sad that we should be concerned our good neighbours might look our way next. Occupy us for our own protection, drain out all the oil, and leave us to clean up our environment?





Sad that American politics and empire building should go so far that could ever be thought of as more than a John Candy comedic movie...





But, we have a minority Conservative government and are heading into an election where that might become a majority. If you guys elect Republicans, while we go Conservative... I can see Free Trade becoming ';come on in!';

NO! russia has part of the arctic in theirs borders. so does cananda, sweden, norway, iceland, and the USA.

Never heard of it, and I am a geographer by trade.
Russia and the rest of the world is waiting for the US to develop the next energy source. So am I, we are supposed to be the world leader aren't we?
Russia has the right idea, and Pelosi is helping to give them a monopoly.
