Why does the media want you to think oil plunged cause of economic fears ,and not GWB's lifting drilling ban?

http://www.yahoo.com/s/917408 Sounds to me maybe they are getting the hint that we mean business about becoming self sufficient, despite Pelosi and Reids attempts to stall it .Why does the media want you to think oil plunged cause of economic fears ,and not GWB's lifting drilling ban?
Thanks for the info

I'm aware of how Reid %26amp; Nancy... along with Obama, and the rest of the democratic hold outs don't support letting the states and 72% of Americans have the right to decide for themselves... When it comes to our own oil offshore, and in the oil-shells.

The real reason is because we are in a election year, and if Offshore drilling, and drilling our own oil is approved it will look very very very bad on their man Barack Obama... and the whole issue will backfire on him and the dems... Since Barry Opposes drilling our own American Oil.

They are just trying to blame everything on Bush鈥?in their idleness. They better get to moving though because that 13% approval rating isn鈥檛 looking like it鈥檚 rising, and it doesn鈥檛 look like it鈥檚 going to turn around any until they DO THEIR JOB! To get something done and, use our tax dollars from our paychecks wisely. Why does the media want you to think oil plunged cause of economic fears ,and not GWB's lifting drilling ban?
These short term fluctuations are not related to long term plans.

Drilling is a few years out.

That said, the media never hestitates to blame Bush for global warming, the rise of islamic extremism, the fall of the dollar or the housing crisis.

If they grant him the power to be responsible for all of that (of course he is not) then he should get credit when something good happens.

People are sheep. They believe what the media tells them, and the media are mostly left-wingers.
President Bush is trying to lift the drilling ban, it will depend on Congress as to whether it will be done or not! Oh, yes, lets not forget that this is not going to do us any good for possibly 10 yrs. before we can successfully get these wells up %26amp; running, not going to do us much good in the short run, when we need it now!
I would certainly like a dem to tell me how drilling for oil will NOT make the price go down. I guess they don't know about supply and demand. Up the supply lower the demand and price. Silly children and Harry Reid.
Someone needs to take Pelosi %26amp; Reid %26amp; Barry Soetoro and put them in a dingy and send them on their way into the unknown, hopefully the sharks will have their way with them.
The drilling ban had nothing to do with it.

It was all the talk about how solar power will replace oil in 30 years, maybe, or if not maybe wind power, or something, perhaps, we hope!
Wrong, this country does not sit on enough oil to be energy independent. The only way that will happen is to become oil independent. Even if we drill we can only produce 3% of the oil we use.
It seems to me that Ayn Rand should be declared a prophet!

Maybe George Orwell too.
The oil lobby ran the country for the last 7 years.
It scared all those speculators. Your right!
I hate to say it but Bush's lift may help us.

No one else had tried ANYTHING, so its a start.

I'm sick of the stalling Dems for sure.
The ';media'; was quoting oil pricing analysts and other experts.

And I guess you missed this part ';Even so, prices remain no lower than they were a week ago';.

Lifting the drilling ban WILL NOT make us ';self sufficient'; in oil.

We won't ';Mean Business'; about becoming self sufficient in energy until we get serious about reducing consumption and developing alternative energy sources.

I really think you have no idea how much oil we use in the US.

PS I think that your comment that the US would be under Sharia Law shows the level of your thinking. By what fantasy scenario could any Muslim entity obtain the ships and men who could get by the US Navy and Air Force, defeat the US Army, Army Reserves,National Guard and the armed population of the the United States and establish Islamic rule? You must have absolutely no faith in the strength of our military or the will of our people! You are talking complete and uttter BS.

Edit: Other answerers have explained why the price of oil won't go down in any significant way from offshore drilling. I would just add that oil is sold in a global market, that India and China have a populations over over a billion people and demand for oil is rising geometrically in those countries. Right now we are using 46% of the worlds oil with about 1/12 of the population those two countries and that is leaving out the rest of the world.

People who think the price will go down because of offshore drilling either cannot do simply mathematics or are totally ignorant about worldwide and US demand for oil vs. supply.

.
The same thought occured to me as well, but don't expect the liberal media to give him any credit. I'm not particularly a fan of Pres. Bush, but I also don't believe he should be blamed for everything that has gone wrong (when the vast majority of what has gone wrong happened after the Dems gained the Congressional majority) and I do believe he should receive credit for the things he has done right---and this was one of the them!!! It is no accident that oil prices have fallen sharply immediately after President Bush lifted the ban...now, if only idiots Peloisi %26amp; Reid would disappear in a puff of smoke or something... If they continue being bull-headed the prices will go back up, however!
No matter how much oil we could produce domestically (assuming the supplies wold finally be making their way to the market years from now), the OPEC cartel would simply respond by lowering their production until the prices remained as high as they were. There is simply not enough oil here to match our demand so they will always have us by the balls until we get off oil. What oil we have that remains off limits (and the oil that is not off limits but simply squatted over by the companies who have no interest in extracting it) should remain a secure reserve in case of a national emergency. Get used to not driving a truck 50 miles a day. The DOE has already said that drilling in ANWR would only drop gas prices by a few cents in ten years.
Can't deal with the truth I see.

Hey spin it anyway YOU would like, it will not change the truth.

little georgie is an impotent little lame duck. even his veto pen has run out of ink, so along with being impotent, he is now sterile as well.
