Do Dems View ';Change'; as Refusing to Drill Oil to Help Poor & Elderly People?

Do the Dems view ';change'; as letting poor elderly Americans to suffer with high fuel oil bills?Do Dems View ';Change'; as Refusing to Drill Oil to Help Poor %26amp; Elderly People?
I get it. It's like a joke, right?

You must be forgetting Cheney's SECRET energy policy meetings which set the country's energy priorities during those 6 years.

You must be forgetting that the Repubs had control of the White House AND the Congress for 6 years, yet they failed to pass any ';oil drilling'; or ';oil conservation'; legislation.

You must be forgetting that they even failed to pass higher fuel efficiency standards for the cars being produced.

You must be forgetting that Bush was warned that a war in the ME would increase the cost of oil.

If the Repubs who controlled the government had made ANY attempt to disrupt our ';addiction to oil'; (another Repub philosophy) during those years, we would be 6 years closer to a solution by now.

But instead, you blame the Dems.

So your question is supposed to be ironic.

Got it.Do Dems View ';Change'; as Refusing to Drill Oil to Help Poor %26amp; Elderly People?
The facts are this. There are over 2,100 active oil rigs in the US. An increase of 38% from last year. There is also another 10,000 drilling permits waiting for activity to start. Add another increase of almost 300% in the number of drilling permits on federal lands and you'll understand that no one is refusing to drill for oil in the US. I would also point out that US consumption of gas is down 3% in the last year. In that same time frame gas prices have increase 38%. Rising fuel prices is not a matter of supply. I think we're seeing now that the sharp rise has been the result of price fixing, collusion, and questionable activities by speculators and the oil companies themselves.
Liberals look at ';change'; as anything that will help advance the dreams of Karl Marx and a few other laughable ';social philosophers.';

What really attracts the Democrats is that they assume they'll be the elite at the top of of the Stalinist paradise -- the nomenklatura who pronounce the diktats, rule the huddled masses, and shop in the nice stores that actually have bread and clothing.

Ironically, they're the least qualified to even rise to the top in a socialist state, and would mostly be standing in those bread lines, waiting....

But you can't stifle the dreams of people who don't have a clue how the world really works.

All you can do is vote them safely out of positions of power, and try to discourage them from breeding.
No.

If you want to bring prices down... decrease demand. Pretty simple really.

What I'd like to know is why does McCain have a history of consistently voting against women's key issues like equal pay and child care legislation, women's health initiatives, minimum wage increases, etc?
capital hill has been controlled by dems for the last 2 years and they will stop at nothing to prove that Bush's economy worked for the 1st 6 years of his presidency he is now a lame duck and they have the power to suspend fuel tax and open the teapot dome area
Hmm...you think a penny a gallon is really gonna help anyone??

Drilling for oil would take years to bring on line and would do nothing to stop the wildly out of bounds speculative oil futures market. There will be a bust eventually.
i say lets drill within 1 mile of florida coast, heck, los angeles is full of pump rigs pumping oil out of wells drilled in town
