Nothing. That's between Cuba and China. More power to them.
We should have been drilling there years ago but the environmentalist have always managed to stop any attempts to drill in the same area.. Every one wants to complain about the high price of gas but when something like this happens people just shrug it off and say more power to them. I guess it's OK if the Chinese have an accident we can just ignore it or we can blame the USA for not reacting fast enough. Some times I think we are as stupid as some people say we are. I guess I'm just tired of other countries taking advantage of us and we worry about being fair and nice or worried if they like us.
China has invested in our deficit...quite heavily, that should be a greater concern than Cuba's oil. 90 miles of open sea is a big door step...what next a charge up San Juan Hill for Exxon Mobil, what exactly do you fear?
The fifty year embargo of Cuba was a terrible idea. If we didn't maintain this stupid policy we could be drilling there.

Not much we can do about it if they have an accident and Florida is ruined.
We could be doing it too, but environmentalists sue the govt and stop it, just like they wont let us drill in alaska... a caribou might have to walk around a drilling site! Why do think we have not built a refinery in 30 plus years.... same reason!
Come on. Should this really be a surprise. Had to happen sooner or later. But my guess would have been the Russians not the Red Chinese. (Yes, I like saying Red Chinese. Its what they are!)

I predict Fidel will be dead by the end of the year. When this happens there will be a power struggle. In the end Cuba will open up to democracy. They will try to do it slowly, but the people will not be patient once they get a taste of true economic and political freedom. There are many corporations waiting and investing in a new cuba. The only thing that would stop this would be efforts on the part of the soviet union, china and Venezuela. If there money and influence is a stronger pull on the powers that be It could hinder any efforts of a true democracy. There is the work of good and evil going. In the end It is my hope that good will triumph over evil.


As far as drilling for oil in our hemisphere that is something we should be doing ourselves. We will also be seeing Russia drilling in the Antarctic in the near future again something we should be doing for ourselves. If anyone can drill safely without causing much strain on the surroundings it is the US we need to get off this idiototic notion that we are going kill off the caribou. And for once do what is right for AMERICA.
Interesting. China needs resources badly. They play with Iran too. But I have been wondering about Russia and their dwindling resources as well. The NANO research?


Or then Hugo Chavez, the protege? No real question the idea is to maintain a Communist presence. And Red China is alive and well.
