He is against all drilling in the US - offshore, in ANWAR, Colorado, Texas, whatever. He is content to let us remain dependent on foreign oil, just as Bill Clinton was - - and his opposition to drilling has put us 10 years later into the current situation.





Maybe you also caught the soundbite of Obama saying he wished Americans could have the time to adjust to $4 + /gallon ';gradually';. So in other words he has no problem with inflated prices. . . . we just need to adjust. Of the 279 million acres of federal land ';with potential for oil or natural gas resources,'; 60 percent is off limits to leases as a matter of federal statute or administrative policy. Another 23 percent is open to leases with ';restrictions.';





These include such things as ';lands that can be leased but ground-disturbing oil and natural gas exploration and development activities are prohibited'; and ';lands that can be leased, but stipulations ... limit the time of the year when oil and gas exploration and drilling can take place to less than 3 months.';





A final 17 percent of federal land is open to oil drilling on more or less the same environmental terms as private land.





Add to that---Environmentalists with their rules (save the speckled tse tse fly and preserve the acreage for the dwarf tit birds)..........and............





Fuel plants are expensive and the only way to make them cost effective is if the price of oil continues as high as it is. That's why Obama Hobba Dobba Globba has voted no to ANWR, offshore drilling, etc.





They've know about this for at least 10 years and were warned about what should be done back then. It's like smoking cigarettes for 30 years and wondering how the hell you got cancer.





If Barry Dingleberry wants America to cut down and conserve I believe he should show a little initiative also. As it is, his friends ';fly in to play pickup basketball games'; with him. Obama knows that the benefits from investment in green technology, alternative energy and increased fuel efficiency standards are more immediate and permanent and offers more jobs and greater energy independence.





Obama also realizes that 67% of Americans support opening up more offshore drilling. Obama cares more about what is best for America.





Obama knows that the oil companies have over 68 million acres of offshore space they don't drill now. Obama knows that it will take five to ten years for any oil to be produced from new offshore drilling. Offshore drilling is estimated to produce a maximum of two years of the oil we consumer in the US. The oil from offshore shore drilling is estimated to have a minimal effect of the cost of oil.





The McCain gas tax holiday and offshore drilling proposals are gimmicks that do not significantly address the high cost of gas or the continued dependence on foreign oil. Economist agree neither will have a significant effect on the price of oil and the gas tax holiday might cause price to rise and cost thousands of jobs rebuilding our infrastructure.





Bush and McCain now back opening more offshore drilling. Surprisingly Bush and McCain didn't feel so strongly when they controlled all branches of government for 6 years. Republicans also didn't support offshore drilling when the closed offshore drilling during the Bush I Administration.
Obama knows that drilling for oil is not the answer to the problems of higher full costs in the present. It takes years of drilling and many rich wells even make a dent in the world consumption rate because we now live in a global economy. China and India are the problems.


Alternative fuels are within our reach, and alternative fuel will save us, but we have to get to the task of government making the research and planning affordable to private enterprise.


Also, government must play a large part in the effort to bring costs of fuel down to levels that American can afford, or bring the explanation of the neccessity for higher fuel prices and the miles per gallon ratios up to where American citizens can afford to travel and work as we always have.


If we drive cars that get twice the gas mileage, it would cut the cost of driving in half. That is the way to do it!
Who is Barack O'carter. lool. Obama does not want to drill for more oil on american persevered areas because it will not provide immediate relief. It is a fact that if we started drilling today, it would take a minimum of 4 years before we produced a drop oil(let alone see it in our gas tanks). Obama feels it's our demand that is causing the issues(which is true since the demand for oil has been rapidly been increasing over the years). And by focusing time and more money on drilling we can not develop alternative energy technologies as rapidly. And he also believe higher gas prices will force people to be more suave on driving(Car pooling more, public transportation, walking more) and will also force technologies to come quicker.
Demand is something we can control RIGHT NOW. Obama and everybody else who pays attention realizes the oil companies aren't interested in opening new drilling sites. They have tens of thousands of untouched acres for drilling. They've spent more than a decade NOT drilling. It's too expensive and takes too much time to develop.

He said No drilling and NO nuclear power. We will have to pay more for what is available.





He made 4.5million last year so $4 a gallon doesn't bother him. He doesn't want the US to use as much energy anyway.





I did hear he was going to open some new candle factories, that's the only energy he approves.
He is against more drilling. The Democrats have backed themselves into an awkward corner on this one. Perhaps Barry will eventually throw Al Gore under the famous bus. But will fat Al fit under there? First, someone will need to jack the bus up.
America is to adopt the EU's edict that plants are sentient and should enjoy the same protections as people.

He is absolutely against using our own energy sources. He has not presented a single idea for providing supportable energy other than nuclear (killed by his type for 30 years) and alternative (doesn't exist).
